My sister and I both came in on Saturday, April 6 to purchase new cars. I had been in the market for a new car for a few months, and my sister's old car died on her the previous day. She was already talking to Suvin by the time that I arrived around 6 pm, which was also the posted closing time. By the time Suvin had finished processing my sister's paperwork, it was around 7ish. He stayed until almost 9:30 pm to help me purchase a 2013 Civic. Suvin was more than willing to spend the extra time to help so that I wouldn't have to return on another day. He was extremely helpful and answered any question my cosigner and I had, no matter how trivial the questions were. Seeing as my old car was also on the edge of dying, the time he spent with us and the speed with which everything occurred was greatly appreciated. More

I felt really bad because although, I only meet with Tiffany Neel twice I felt a connection to her. There is an ease about her that made a difficult decision much simplier. But what most impressed me was her understanding of me going to another dealership. She did not show any hard feelings. I almost think I felt worse than her!!! We primarily worked with Suvin and he is by far one of the best salesmen we have ever worked with to buy a new car (and we have bought 4 new cars over the past 10 years). He was straightforward, no-nonse the best salesmen we have ever worked with to buy a new car (and we have bought 4 new cars over the past 10 years). He was straightforward, no-nonsense and gave us an honest and fair price right off the bat. We first communicated over email and he was responsive, polite and within a few emails to negotiate gave us the best price compared to the other dealers we were working with at the time without any angst or attempt to string us along. We would buy another car from him in a heartbeat- even if he switched dealerships or brands if he could sell us a car to fit our needs. Our problems with the dealership were with the management and the process to have our trade in appraised and finalize the sale. In short- we arrived at the dealer with firm price offer at 9am and did not manage to leave until after 2pm. That is absurd. The appraisal came in low (below our CARMAX offer and an offer from a rival dealer to beat our CARMAX offer). It was such a bunch of unneeded theater for me to get an trade-in value that I needed to make the new car worth it. We did not have to purchase and I truly believe the appraisers were trying to lowball us and take forever to do it in hopes that we would feel we'd invested so many hours that we'd just take their offer to get out of there. Well, that only does not work with us but it really sours our desire to continue at all. We truly feel that we were held there in retaliation for the price we were getting and that is NOT the type of customer service we applaud. Suvin was very helpful and apologetic but his hands were tied by the appraisers and management. We did finally get close to the price we wanted and made the trade but the process itself took 3 hours and we had a hungry infant and 2 year old with us. It was beyond inconsiderate of the dealership to have their appraisers disappear for hours with our keys- so that we had no recourse but to sit there with no way to leave or get food for our children. We also worked with Walter O'Rourke who was the manager and while polite to our faces, I was not impressed. I should mention that I am a woman and when Walter came over to check on us during our 5 hour debacle, he would say hi to me and the kids then actually turned his back on me to discuss the car with my husband in a voice so that I couldn't hear him. It was extremely offensive especially since the car we were purchasing was for me (an Odyssey minivan) and I am 1) a highly educated CPA who is familiar with money, financing etc. and 2) I was the one who did all of the negotiating for this vehicle purchase. My husband only came along because we both like to drive the cars we buy and we had 2 children to manage at the dealership. You hear stories of car dealerships being dismissive of women, and I am not one to get easily offended and feminist on issues, but in practice it was annoying as all get out. So to sum it all up. We are pleased with our purchase because we got the car we wanted at the price we wanted and the trade-in we wanted. We loved working with Suvin and in order to work with him again would consider returning to Criswell Honda to purchase another car. BUT I truly feel that being at the dealership for 5 hours was completely unnecessary and was done maliciously to punish us for the price and trade-in. I did not appreciate the lack of consideration of our 2 very small children when we were kept there for that length of time. I did not appreciate the manager's dismissal of me in discussions concerning the vehicle. I would not recommend for or against the dealership itself based on our experience. I would encourage my friends and family to go for the best price wherever they find it since I was not overly impressed with the dealership itself. HOWEVER, I would highly recommend Suvin so, if people were lucky enough to work with him, Criswell may get their business. More
