It took over 2 hours to do an oil change, multi-point check, fuel/air induction service and serpentine belt replacement on my Subaru outback. After agreeing to and starting this service the rep highlighted that I was also overdue for a differential fluid change. I asked how frequently this was needed and she said every 40k miles. I did not have time to wait for that service so I deferred it. When i got home I reviewed my past service records and found that this service was recommended when I was leaving after my 55k service. It was not highlighted in any of my regular services until I now at 80k miles. It appears that I am 40k overdue for this service!! This should have been flagged at my 40k mile service and every service after that until it was done. I am wondering what damage has been done to my differential because I have not gotten this service. More

It takes just one bad apple A few days after my 10,000 mile checkup, I decided to check my oil level, because I wasn't getting the miles/gallon that I had been getting up to that A few days after my 10,000 mile checkup, I decided to check my oil level, because I wasn't getting the miles/gallon that I had been getting up to that point. But try as I might, I couldn't get the dipstick out. So I took it over to Wappingers Toyota, and the Service Attendant worked on the dipstick a long time before he was able to summon up enough leverage to withdraw the dipstick. The dipstick registered about 1/2 way between the two lines, I don't know why it didn't register "full". Evidently the fellow who changed the oil had pushed the stick in too far. The misplaced muscle category is in the same line as mechanics that fasten lug bolts on tires probably way past the point of safety and to the point where some motorist, with the need to change a tire with the wrench supplied, hasn't the strength to loosen the bolts. Or the mechanics who tighten oil filters so much that they cause a rupture in the gasket and oil leakage sometime down the pike. And if strength is his virtue, I question whether such a person could have somehow accidentally caused the decrease in mileage. For the last 3 fillups prior to the 10,000 mile checkup, the car had been registering a little over 59 miles/gallon. I understand it is not supposed to be that good, so I did the usual bit over at least two of those times by checking miles driven over gallons consumed over those miles. It was fairly consistent with the dashboard reading. Then I thought that maybe the cars odometer reading was wrong, so I checked it with the tenth mile markers on the taconic parkway. It turned out that the measured mile occurred a tenth on a mile sooner than the cars mile, which meant to me that the cars miles/gallon were actually LOWER than reality. Since the 10,000 mile checkup and oil change, the car had been showing miles/gallon of about 51-52: not bad, but it doesn't explain the difference. Tom Jacobs More
Very good The staff is always helpful and never try to sell you something or provide a repair you don't need. I trust that what they tell me is the truth. 0 fixes for 4 attempts I think these people are good at fixing mechanical problems but not electronics. My radio has not been operating properly. Most recently, a Simon & G I think these people are good at fixing mechanical problems but not electronics. My radio has not been operating properly. Most recently, a Simon & Garfunkel CD has been playing every time the car is on. We can not turn it off and can not turn the volume down. (I've noticed most of Simon's songs, if not all, are about him. I now call his work "I, me, my" songs). This had been the situation for about a year. Before this, the radio did not work. Over the last years, Toyota said it was due to mice in the car eating the wire insulation but could not find where. We decided to have the audio system replaced. At our year end regular maintenance, we did. The radio still would not work but now it was a completely different problem ... the radio would arbitrarily go off and on. They said it was a bad radio replacement and had us come back. The next audio system had the same off/on problem. Now they say it is because it is connected to the same fuse as the emergency lights. So after spending over $500 we still have a bad audio system and they have given up. At least I am free from the sound of "I, me, my. My take away is that they may be good at car mechanics but don't know much about car electronics. Be careful. The service people are nice and efficient. As far as my normal car maintenance, this is the second time in the last three years, that I had to immediately return the car due to noises and vibrations on driving from the service area. In both cases, they set up a new appointment upon which these were fixed. More
