Jacob is truly an extraordinary person who has mastered his craft in handing every bump in the road (pun intended) during this process with professionalism, while maintaining a semblance of humor (which is much needed in life). Thank you to Joe as well (Service Manager). He is a good man who listens intently, while formulating a response to my questions and concerns. A hat tip to the Entire Gordie Boucher team in West Bend. I purchased a new F150 last march. It currently has less than 6000 miles on it. My issue was not with the salesman or the sales experience with one exception which I’ll mention below. It currently has less than 6000 miles on it. My issue was not with the salesman or the sales experience with one exception which I’ll mention below. My issue is a quality issue with the truck itself. Let me explain. In August I was out of town for a couple of weeks and when I returned the battery in the truck was completely dead. I assumed I might have left something on but couldn’t find anything. Anyway I thought it a fluke and recharged the battery. A couple of weeks after that I went on a 10 day vacation to Europe and when I returned the battery was again dead. I called your service department and was told that this was “normal “ for a new truck and I had 2 options. I would have to drive it every 3-4 days or use a battery tender on my new truck. I was dumbfounded. My 2017 F150 could be parked for 6 weeks in the middle of winter while I’m in Florida and it would start right up. I was told that won’t happen with a new truck. Imagine if I would’ve parked the truck at the airport and after spending 20+ hours in airports and on planes I would’ve returned to a dead battery to deal with??? I was told there are portable chargers to use for this scenario. After talking to him, I called a local dealership and they said they would check the battery. The battery was not defective and I was given the same 2 options to deal with the problem. So please answer 4 questions for me. 1). Is it really true that I only have these two options if I intend to own a new F150?? 2). If it is true, why wasn’t I told about this flaw before I purchased the vehicle? It certainly would have affected my decision. 3). If it is true, then is Ford working on a solution? If so, when can I expect a solution? 4). If the only solution that Ford Motor Company can offer as a solution is for me to purchase and install a battery tender if I want to park my truck at the airport, then why didn’t it come this way from Ford? I already spent a lot of money on the purchase of the vehicle, and now I’m expected to spend more to accommodate their design flaw??? I look forward to your response. Thank you. More
