I was looking to buy a summer car. I saw a 2017 certified Miata RF advertised on their website. Texted and asked for an out the door price. Advertised price was $26,395. Which I tho I saw a 2017 certified Miata RF advertised on their website. Texted and asked for an out the door price. Advertised price was $26,395. Which I thought was reasonable. To that they added $799 for the Certified Warranty (even though they advertised the car as certified for the $26395), $393.69 for taxable fees, $999 for a doc fee, $510 for Non Tax Fees, and $1492.21 for what was described to me as "what the dealership had to pay to get the car show room ready". Since when do end buyers have to pay above the value of the car the amount of money a dealership puts into a car to make it worth the price they advertise?! In total, this "insane" deal as my salesman put it, was literally insane. Thats $4200 in mark ups before taxes. On top of that, the advertising never disclosed that there were suspension and exhaust modifications. Had I known that I would have not even wasted my time asking for a price. As I was buying the car from afar, I could not evaluate whether the suspension tweaks woud be to my liking or whether the exhaust would meet NYS inspection requirements. I would never deal with a dealership that treats its customers with such disrespect. This was a second fun car for me, so I had no reason to put up with this. I subsequently bought from another dealer in Tennessee a 2017 Launch edition with aero kit and certified for $26,100 and only $495 in fees. More
