Bait and Switch on Pricing If you're looking for a bait and switch on pricing to get you in the door and then to be disappointed, look no further than Mt. Ephraim Chrysler Dodge If you're looking for a bait and switch on pricing to get you in the door and then to be disappointed, look no further than Mt. Ephraim Chrysler Dodge. My wife and I have been in the market for a truck for the household, and have been looking at area dealerships. We found a 2019 Laramie Longhorn that was listed on Mt. Ephraim's website with factory rebates and additional dealership discounts of $48,465. I attempted to contact them via text about this price just to confirm that it was accurate before driving 45 minutes to get to the dealership on my only day off from work. The exact response from their sales staff via text when asked about the accuracy of pricing was "Yes I believe the truck you selected is apart of our employee pricing special for the month of November only. It is first come first serve but that discount is majority of it." He continued to encourage me to come in and see the vehicle as well, so we made the trip today. After inspecting the truck and going for a test drive, I was very interested in purchasing (including signing today if the price was right). Once Eric worked with his sales manager, he came back with a sales price of $56K which was far off from the $48K as listed online. We provided the printout from the website listing the online sales price (printed this very morning!), and Eric took this back to the sales manager who then came over to the desk to explain the price. The sales manager proceeded to tell us that the listed price on their website was an "IT issue that needs to be fixed" and is not only affecting THIS dealership, but also the other 2-3 dealerships he owns in the area. He claimed that the website was "double-dipping" the employee discount promotion for the month of November, and they could not sell the truck for less than they were offering in store despite the listed price online. We drove an hour and a half round trip on our only day off from work JUST to go to this dealership based on an internet price that I had confirmed THE NIGHT BEFORE with their sales staff via text. This is NOT how business should be conducted and is a complete insult to the customer's time and money. At this point, we are 2 weeks into the month of November with the employee pricing sales, and the manager told me that he "only just became aware of this IT issue" when I came into the store today. So what they're trying to say is that NO ONE in the past TWO WEEKS any any of their 3-4 dealerships have brought up the same issue of false pricing on the website??? I highly doubt that, and it was a complete bait and switch just to get you in the door. Avoid this dealership. They will waste your time just hoping that you'll pay the higher price once you arrive and see the cars. We were excited about potentially making a truck purchase today, but instead left frustrated and disappointed with the service we received. More
