Mazda511, On behalf of North Penn Mazda, I would like to apologize for your frustrating experience with our service department. When you spoke with Catie when you first arrived, you were told that the charge to update the PCM would be $132.95 plus tax. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on the vehicle for the concern you were having, not a recall. TSBs can be informative, specify diagnostic steps or require new parts or adjustments to address a specific problem. However, a TSB is not a diagnosis, but a guide to proper diagnosis. A TSB is a voluntary repair and may not be applicable if you’re not experiencing the problem it covers. The TSB is covered under warranty during the Basic Warranty on the vehicle, which for your vehicle expired at 36,000miles or the Federal Emissions warranty which expired at 80,000miles. Outside of the warranty period, which your car has 102,000 miles, the TSB procedure still would apply, but parts and labor would be the responsibility of the owner. This is a decision that Mazda makes, not us as a dealership. We were not trying to charge you for something that is a recall, as it is not a recall. At North Penn Mazda, our focus is to provide consumers with excellent customer service. Catie had left you a message on Monday February 10th to update you on what Mazda Corporate had to offer and she never heard back from you. She tried to call you again once this review came through and you were unhappy with what Mazda was offering. We have offered to pick your vehicle up, give you a loaner vehicle free of charge to follow Mazda's direction of repair and you have declined numerous times.
