The morning of May 27, 2023, I went to the dealership looking to purchase a certified pre-owned vehicle. The first person to greet me was Jacob Cline. He was friendly, listened to what I had to say, then showed me a car, that I liked, very much.” As he was going to get the keys for me to test drive, I drove around to the front of the dealership to park my car, and before I could get to a parking spot, another salesperson walked up to my car and begin asking me some of the same questions as Jacob asked. His name is Michael Black. I called my husband to come and take a look at the car and see what he thought about it. He liked it, test drove it, we wanted to purchase the car. We told Michael we wanted to buy the car. I wanted to make sure Jacob would get the sale. Michael assured me he would get credit for it. Then the price was an issue for us. It was a 2010 Honda CR-V. We were only willing to pay so much and gave Michael a price, he said he’d have to check with his manager. The manager, I don’t remember his name, however; I do remember his gruff response to the price we offered to pay. It was as if he didn’t want our business anyway.” We left, it was our first stop and I was certain we would find what we were looking for. Once home, I began checking the internet for car and price range we were willing to pay. Once I plugged in all information, the car pops up along with the dealership, SHOTTENKIRK Honda and it’s the exact same car we’d just looked at, and, the price had been lowered.” I call the dealership, I was put on hold, then told someone would get back to me. To shorten this review. We walked into the dealership with financing already. It was a holiday weekend. Initially it seemed as if we were going to be leaving the dealership with the car, knowing the paperwork and check would be brought back on the Tuesday afternoon after work. After some back and forth, (I did Not want them to pull my credit report. One, I would not be financing the car through the dealership. Two. My credit score was in the 800s and I did not want my score to be affected by unnecessary checking. We decided to pay cash for the car. We had to go back home to get the checkbook and come back, but weren’t allowed to take the car with us, Michael said he was going to have the car cleaned up ( it was already cleaned) and I felt like they didn’t trust we were going to come back with the check. Michael followed us back to our house to personally get the check.” We kept our composure. We got the car we set out to get, we just didn’t expect to be treated in the manner that we were treated.” More
