Car needed engine replacement. On warranty. Dealership refused to acknowledge that engine needed to be replaced until they forced me to pay for spark plugs and ignition coils for $ On warranty. Dealership refused to acknowledge that engine needed to be replaced until they forced me to pay for spark plugs and ignition coils for $1371.21. The car ran worse than ever after their "repairs". Only then did they admit that the engine needed to be replaced. After forcing me to pay for non-warranty repairs that were not the real problem. Unethical. Untrustworthy. And then they charged an illegal surprise credit card surcharge. An additional $40. And claimed that they spent 2.09 hours installing coils and spark plugs. A job that normally takes a half hour to an hour. I authorized the job by phone and I was told the car was ready about an hour later. Proof that they did not spend two plus hours doing that Update: More bad news. Started up the Elantra this afternoon. the car is jumping around and hesitating like it wants to stall. Just like it did before I brought it for that second time to South Shore Hyundai when they finally decided to replace the engine. This is the second time this dealership "fixed" this car and there is still something seriously wrong! New spark plugs, new ignition coils, new engine. And it sounds and feels terrible. More
