Both incompetent and-- what's worse-- deceptive. In August, 2020 I put down a $500 deposit to lay claim to a used Toyota Tacoma which St. Cloud Toyota was advertising on their website without photos. August, 2020 I put down a $500 deposit to lay claim to a used Toyota Tacoma which St. Cloud Toyota was advertising on their website without photos. I asked why the vehicle had no pictures and was told it was still in their body shop for repairs. After being sent photos by Mitchell, a helpful employee and my first point of contact, I elected to purchase the vehicle subject to a mechanic's inspection. Mitchell relayed to me that the folks in the service department expected the vehicle to be ready sometime within the next 3 weeks as repairs to the tailgate were needed. I asked what the total fees would be and Mitchell said $125. When I complained that the website disclosed in fine print a $485 processing fee, Mitchell said that was inexplicable, inaccurate, and he would bring it to the attention of management. I said I wanted the breakdown of the numbers emailed to me. He said he would do so. (I never received that email, nor any other). I provided my credit card information over the phone to Mitchell on a Saturday and he said the $500 deposit would be run the next Monday. Mitchell personally placed a "reserved" tag on the vehicle in the garage so that nobody else would sell it. Five days later, having received no communication from St. Cloud Toyota about my vehicle despite assurances that I would, I contacted them by phone for a schedule update and also because I needed to know whether the passenger seat was a "fold-flat" style (an EBAY auction was underway on a set of heavily discounted, expensive, leather seat covers that would only work on a fold-flat seat, so time was of the essence). I left an email, I left a voicemail . . . no response. The EBAY auction now only had 12 hours. So the next day, day six, I called the body shop and asked the person there to walk into the garage and check on the passenger seat for me. She said she would do so and call me back. She never did. I called several more times trying to reach Mitchell without luck and without a call back. Then I called and asked to speak to the sales manager. On one such attempt the receptionist didn't even know who he was! Ultimately at the end of the day I received a call from a new person who explained that Mitchell was no longer my point of contact, and that he had been assigned as my salesman. I explained the passenger seat detail and asked that he go see if the seat folded down flat or not. He said he would, but never did. The EBAY auction ended and I couldn't even bid on the seat covers since nobody ever answered my basic question about the vehicle's passenger seat. Then, the next day, the smarmy, insincere sales manager, Chris Vance, called me and explained that they had already promised the vehicle to somebody else so I couldn't buy it. He offered no explanation beyond feigning incredulity as to how such a snafu could occur. He offered nothing. Meanwhile, I had spent many hours researching and planning a trip to Minnesota involving a plane flight and journey by light rail, bus, and UBER to get to the dealership, not to mention the trip back to my home in South Carolina. Furthermore, I experienced an opportunity cost of another candidate vehicle which was sold to somebody else during the week I waited on St. Cloud Toyota to repair "my" truck's tailgate and update me about a delivery date. I believe the truck was NOT, in fact, pledged to somebody else before me, because such a circumstance is so basic to the operations of any dealership-- any retail business, for that matter-- that the explanation rings hollow (particularly without the provision of any detailed explanation, which sales manager Chris Vance did not provide). Communication with this dealership was consistently bungled, unwieldy, contradictory, and the only way my dealings with them could have been worse is if I had flown all the way to Minnesota only to be told that the vehicle was already gone. Thankfully that did not happen but I still suffered a huge waste of time and also an opportunity cost for a substitute truck. More

It is unbelievable that when you purchase your vehicle from this Toyota dealer, and years after your warrantee has expired you take your Toyota in for service only to realize that there is no service char from this Toyota dealer, and years after your warrantee has expired you take your Toyota in for service only to realize that there is no service charge! What a peace of mind? More

I was very disappointed with the answer on the excessive wear of my tires. The General tires I have are around 30000 miles and one is nearly shot and the others have excessive wear on the edges. I was told wear of my tires. The General tires I have are around 30000 miles and one is nearly shot and the others have excessive wear on the edges. I was told it was due to the speed I was going on the roundabouts in Sartell. I am over 70 years old and do not speed around the roundabout!!!!! I was told there would be no warranty from General so drive them until they were worn out. Well, the one is close and probably shouldn’t be driven on!! Guess I will shop for tires!!!! More
