I am so disgusted by my experience. My Prius needed a head gasket replaced, but the shop would only consider a vastly more expensive new engine replacement. Replacing the head gasket is a widely experienced by customers for this model of Prius because they commonly wear out because the internal combustion engine is frequently stopping and restarting to charge the battery. The car was running fine and there was no indication of any engine problem other than the very recent head gasket coolant leak. An honest shop would have provided the option of a head gasket replacement instead of having a money-grab policy of replacing the engine for $11,600 as the only fix offered or trading in the car.
