I bought a 2025 Suburban from Mount Joy Chevrolet, which closed shortly after I bought it, so I've relied on Riverview Chevy for warranty service. After a year of visits, I won't be going back. Two weeks after I bought the truck, the connectivity started dropping out. Riverview's service department told me this was normal and that I needed to take it up with OnStar. After about 20 calls over the last two years, OnStar's senior technicians investigated the issue and told me the problem was the vehicle's software, not their service. Riverview also told me the loud startup noise was normal. Another mechanic has since told me it's excessive, even for this truck. On several occasions, Riverview kept the truck for a full day, and when I picked it up, the work hadn't been done. Last December, for example, I reported a side mirror vibrating at highway speeds. When I picked up the truck, I was told it was fixed. It wasn't, so I brought it right back. It took four months to get the replacement mirror installed.
Last Friday, I showed up for a scheduled appointment and was told they couldn't handle the issue that day. I rescheduled for Tuesday and called ahead to speak with Cam, who I understood to be the service manager. I explained that I needed a loaner that seats at least six so I could drive my kids to school, and he confirmed a pickup truck would be waiting for me. When I arrived Tuesday morning, I waited for him, but he offered me a five-seat Equinox instead. I also asked for the claim number he said he'd filed with GM for a rear-seat release that broke. He said he had it but wouldn't give it to me, especially not with my attitude. I had not raised my voice. When I said GM would hear about this, he told me there were plenty of other dealerships I could go to. So I took his advice. The next dealership I called told me that a loaner is standard for repairs under bumper-to-bumper coverage, and that they can get a 6-, 7-, or 9-passenger vehicle through a rental company if needed. My Suburban has 26,000 miles and is fully under warranty. Riverview just didn't seem interested in honoring that or fixing any other problems.
On nearly every visit, someone asked whether I'd bought the truck from them, as if that should affect the service I get. Every interaction left me feeling like I was at their mercy rather than a customer they wanted to keep. A warranty is a warranty, no matter where you bought the vehicle. If you own a Chevy, do yourself a favor and stay away from Riverview. Don't make my mistake of giving them chance after chance. Read the other reviews before you book here, because I wish I had. Your time, your money, and your family's peace of mind are worth more than what this service department offers.
