Far from world class. Rep was polite but did not show the value when I have options. I contacted them in Oct 2023 about a C450. In a span of 8 minutes, it went from it has Rep was polite but did not show the value when I have options. I contacted them in Oct 2023 about a C450. In a span of 8 minutes, it went from it hasn't be inspected and priced to now it's this price. The asking price was well above market. I have the text receipts. Does that make sense? NO. There is no way a proper inspection can be done in that span of time. When I stated it was way overpriced, the response was "best of luck to you." Fast forward to Feb 2023 and the car is priced lower and still on their lot. Was I surprised? Nope. I made an offer and Abel responded that we were too far apart. No counter offer. Instead I received "what are you able to do?" Do they really think I'm stupid enough to negotiate against myself? With outstanding maintenance? Pretty stupid tactics on their part when I made clear I've been buying cars for 20 years. Considering I'd have to travel some 2.5 hours, you'd think logic would intervene considering the car has sat for this long. In my judgment, they showed no real interest. What I got was hubris. When I pointed out the outstanding maintenance, the response was "we go based off what our department recommends to use and our certified techs tell us." That is incorrect. The techs don't make that decision on what work is done. The manager decides based on what they paid for it. BTW, many dealerships will decline outstanding maintenance due to profit margin and still want full market value. So if you're a buyer reading this. It's inspection report, repair receipts, reconditioning report, and CarFax. Only 3 of 4. Coincidence? It does not appear so. I was promised an update to my question on Monday Feb 19th regarding the outstanding maintenance. No response. Sent an email to Lidia. Nothing. It's pretty clear that this dealer is not customer centric as they'd have you believe. Evidently, Mercedes Benz of Salem is use to people who know nothing and just open their wallets with no hard questions. The big problem with this dealer is they have no defined process, communicate poorly, and don't negotiate in good faith. That is exactly why the same car sits on their lot almost 4 months later. Some evidently have to learn the hard way... I'm sure I'll get the perfunctory response of them saying call or email when they have my contact info. Need I say more? More
