In 2008, I realized that I needed to make a career change. I spent the previous 19 years in the restaurant industry, and the long hours were really beginning to take their toll. After applying for a job at Don Ayres, I was immediately impressed with the company’s family-friendly approach to business. Everyone welcomed me to the dealership, something that I pass along to our new employees. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Melissa, and our Weimaraner, Remington Steele (Remy). We also enjoy boating in our vintage Correct Craft. I enjoy helping customers not only at time of purchase, but later on down the line when questions arise on how to use their new vehicle's technology (I'm a bit of a tech geek)!

AS PAINLESS AS CONCEIVABLE Our family has been buying Hondas from Don Ayres for many years now and the experience just gets better and less stressful each time. Buying cars from other dealers was a game and I always felt that we were cheated by the time it was over--either cheated of time with ridiculous games or cheated of money by the final deal. This has never happened at Don Ayres. The salesman actually knew the answer to every question we had about the vehicles--can't tell you how many times I knew more about the vehicle than the salesman who was trying to sell it to me (infuriating!!) I send anyone looking for a Honda (or comparable vehicle) to Don Ayres and will for the foreseeable future. My wife (who is unbelievable picky--she slipped up when she married me--everyone makes a mistake occasionally) loves them to pieces. More

All my 7 transactions to obtain a new vehicle have been seamlessly organized, incredibly pleasant and leaving me feeling very happy to be parting with my hard-earned money. Not only do they deal in my favorite product, but they also supercede any other dealership in customer service: EVERYONE working there greets me with a warm welcome.... and it feels sincere.... every single time. I am treated with the utmost respect. They cater to my every need. Even when having my cars serviced, they offer various options for my comfort/entertainment as I wait.... many off-site, to which they provide transportation. No matter what my business is there on any given day, I always leave happy! After 30 years of choosing Don Ayres Honda, they certainly feel like home. And, they continue to serve even better with every year! The salesman that helped me with my last 2 is the most awesome... Andy Hitzemann.......like dealing with family. Our former saleswoman had retired, so this time we worked with Andy Hitzemann who dealt with ALL of my questions, ALL of my waffling on which vehicle and in the end he simply took great care of us. Due to a personal situation, we opted to switch which vehicle we would be purchasing at the last minute and Andy made it happen! Then he discovered a hiccup as I was ready to leave with the new purchase. Andy took me personally to the service dept. , handed me over to Jeremy Sullivan, explained the hiccup and Jeremy & his service tech took care of it! Hurray!! Love my 2013 Honda CR-V!! More

Excellent, Professional Dealership After careful research in purchasing a car, I was interested in the Honda CR-V. Looking for a good deal, I went with the 2015 model in late 2015 (Nove After careful research in purchasing a car, I was interested in the Honda CR-V. Looking for a good deal, I went with the 2015 model in late 2015 (November). While Fort Wayne only has 1 Honda dealership, this Honda dealership is apparently one of the top dealerships in the state and my experience supports that. This dealership is professional and kind and definitely focuses on customer service and retention. Throughout the process, I worked mainly with Andy H. (Sales) and Jarod Burgess (Finance). I'll start with Andy. I set up a meeting with Andy in which we spent 90 minutes talking about my car interests, research, thoughts, and went for a test drive. Andy answered all of my questions, was very knowledgeable, and struck the perfect balance between helpful and overly "sell-y." Andy gave me a tour of the dealership, introduced me to a couple members of the service team, and welcomed me to the dealership. Everyone I spoke with at the dealership had at least 6+ years at Don Ayres, which was pleasantly surprising. After our initial meeting, Andy and I communicated via text throughout the next week when I had some basic questions and set-up a meeting later that week. In our second meeting, I ended up selecting a different model in the same car. Although I arrived at 4:30p on a Saturday (dealership closes at 6p), Andy stayed until 8:15p even as we went to different departments (finance, etc.) where he wasn't directly involved. He set-up specific settings on my car and connected my phone to Bluetooth. He went above and beyond his job and I would highly, highly recommend him to anyone. My friends, family, and strangers. I also worked with Jarod Burgess during the finance portion of the deal. Jarod was friendly, courteous, and helpful in his explanations. Although this is the point in the conversation where the dealership presents various insurance plans and you must act quickly (which did happen), I did not feel like Jarod was pressuring me to decide in any way. He walked me through all the paperwork, answered all my simple and complex questions thoroughly. Another good person. This dealership does not have that stereotypical car dealership vibe where everyone seems sleezy/charming and conniving. In fact, we got the deal we were looking for without any bargaining whatsoever. My family was so shocked that one family member tried to bargain on floor mats, etc. because she was frustrated she wasn't able to negotiate (as we got the number we wanted immediately as they gave us a $1,000 discount). Everyone here made my buying experience so enjoyable and I look forward to working with Don Ayres in the future. More

Andy kept in touch with me for over six months to ensure that I would be able to have the type of vehicle I wanted. My only "complaint" if you will was when it came time to do the signing. Prior to that point we had discussed pricing and had been told that they could work with us to keep our payments at a certain price. Unfortunately on the day of signing, in the office we found out the monthly payments were going to be significantly higher. There we were with my old car ready to be turned over and we were hit with this news. We felt blind-sided in many ways. I wish that we had been told of this issue by phone prior to the signing date. It took one week from the time I choose the used vehicle until it was ready for me. That was fine as I knew it needed to be cleaned and checked out. I would have thought, however, that in that time frame, we could have been notified of the change in pricing so we could have possibly made another decision or waited. That was the only "negative". I am happy with the car. I think I went too fast in choosing, however, as there were a few things I wish the car had that it doesn't. Otherwise I am happy with it. Thank you. More
