I brought my truck back after the tailgate recall. First I was told I’d have to pay $180 if it wasn’t the recall to isolate the issue. . They finally agreed to look at it and then said it was the tai First I was told I’d have to pay $180 if it wasn’t the recall to isolate the issue. . They finally agreed to look at it and then said it was the tailgate actuator and it would cost me 500+ dollars to replace it I took it home replaced the actuator even though it had the same resistance as the old one, and it did not fix the problem. I unwrapped the wires under the bumper by the spare tire that were spliced during the recall, and the tailgate started working again. It is currently working, so I haven’t isolated which wire was broken or not fully connected yet, but it was definitely in the repair from the recall. I have no issues with Eddie my service manager he is always professional and easy to work with but I feel I would of had to pay money out of my pocket for something that wasn’t broken because the technician didn’t want to look further to see if it was something that went wrong while doing the recall. I am in a similar line of work, but I at least admit when I do something wrong or my repair didn’t hold, It’s not a big deal. It happens but I was brushed off because it would take to long to Identify the actual root cause. More
