We’re sorry to hear about your frustration regarding the clean vehicle tax credit. We understand how valuable these incentives can be. To clarify, at the time of purchase, it was communicated that we would not be submitting for the tax credit and that we are only able to process that paperwork at the time of delivery, per government policy. You chose to move forward with the purchase knowing this. When contacted us after the sale, we again explained that unfortunately, submissions cannot be made after the delivery date, this is a federal restriction, not a dealership decision. We do appreciate your business and are happy to answer any other questions you may have.

I don’t know if I should be insulted by your implication that I would be stupid enough to forgo a $4,000 tax credit for that particular vehicle when several with a higher trim level were available at a price less than the tax credit differential. Or I should laugh at the thought that anyone would present such a stupid lie in an attempt to cover up a mistake, laziness (Lake Ford isn’t getting the tax credit so I’m not putting in the work) or simply ineptness. To your second point, it is equally ridiculous. The window for submissions had been changed and extended. I even sent Lake Ford documentation about the change. So either you are ignorant of the fact and duped into making the claim or Lake Ford is only interested in doing the paperwork if it gets the tax credit…screw the customer because we don’t care, we got our money. Finally, Lake Ford appears to have less than a stellar reputation. While waiting in line to mail a certified letter to Lake Ford, a fellow customer told me that his brother bought an electric vehicle from Lake Ford and an acquaintance also purchased a vehicle from Lake Ford. He said neither he nor they would ever deal with Lake Ford again.
