Literally, still at the dealership and the salesman took the check and didn't come back. We were there for at least another hour, while we were "next in line" to finalize our paperwork. We had to find our salesman to ask where the car mats were, he said there aren't any. We complained to the manager, ultimately they gave the key to me and told me I can check the trunk. I did, it was a really cold wet snow / rainy day. They told us we would get free car washes at either this or Bolingbrook location. I drove to Bolingbrook, they don't do free car washes. Finally, less than 45 days from purchase, we were driving at night on the busy highway, during a rainstorm. The driver side wiper hyper extended and wrapped, stuck around the driver's side window. Really scary! We couldn't see. When I called the dealer, they notified me that the car has no warranty and was not certified (thought it was) so there is nothing they can do. The call was escalated and I told the story 5 times. Car problems within 45 days of purchase, but it is a mechanical issue so they cannot help???? Don't buy your car here. More

Law enforcement first responders stay away First responders beware: Brothers and sisters in law enforcement I recently (within two weeks) purchased a 2011 Ford Edge from advantage Chevy f First responders beware: Brothers and sisters in law enforcement I recently (within two weeks) purchased a 2011 Ford Edge from advantage Chevy for an Xmas president for my son. The sales rep Ernie seemed like a decent somewhat honest (for a used car salesman)guy even told me “we (advantage Chevy in Hodgkins) take care of first responders (police firemen, military) and give discounts as a thank you. I’m a law enforcement officer myself and told Ernie I’m sure u tell everyone that. Ernie tells me no really we r giving you a 15 day 500 mile warranty so take the edge to your mechanic or a ford mechanic have it checked out and if anything wrong bring it back and we will fix it. Ernie also said our mechanics went through the car, checked everything out and put brake pads and new tires on. I picked up the edge drive it directly to my mechanic a few days later my mechanic calls to report the vehicle needs new tie rods ( was surprised the wheels hadn’t fallen off yet) rac in pinion steering hoses( the one on was rigged and leaking currently done) front struts, leaking rear seal, brake light out on pass side front brakes were “psd slapped” needs new rotors the ones on are rusted out. The bill was 2400 to conduct repairs. My mechanic was surprised this vehicle was checked out by a Chevy dealer and they ignored to fix all these problems or disclose it I called and texted Ernie several times with surprisingly no response. Ernie finally responded to me via text and gave me the used car managers number John Mack and said call him. I did and Mack wouldn’t help told me the warranty should’ve been explained better and it was limited to the engine. I said why would your sales rep tell me to take it to my mechanic have it looked at and any repairs needed bring it back within 15 days and we will fix it. Mack said we are not repairing it that was it. I said you guys preach that you are pro law enforcement, first responders military and your still not going to help me? At least pay for half the bill. Mack said we don’t know your mechanic I said the repairs aren’t done yet I’ll bring the car back so u can fix it like Ernie said to do. Mack still said no. Bothers and sisters please stay away from advantage Chevy in hodgkins. No deal is good enough when within three days of purchasing you have a 2400 repair bill!!! More

I will never ever ever ever recommend anybody to buy either used or new car from this company. IT IS VERY SAD THAT THEY ARE IN BUSINESS. More

My credit isn’t great, I have a s Let me start out by saying I know I am not the ideal customer a car salesman is looking for. Far from it actually. My credit isn’t great, I have a small down payment, and have a small budget to work with. That being said I still deserve decent customer service and respect. I am looking to buy a newer reliable car and am very aware of my limited choices. I went in to Advantage Chevrolet in Hodgkins prequalified for a car loan and looking for a specific car that unfortunately had already been sold. The young salesman was pleasant enough and asked if he could find me something in my budget if I would take a look at it. I showed him my prequalified letter and was bluntly honest with him. I gave him the amount of my deposit, the price range for my payment and said this is where I need to be. I happened to have my ex husband with me to take a look at the cars for me as I don’t know much about cars. The salesman brought out a car he thought would fit and we took it for a test drive and had some small talk. After asking how long we had been married and we stated we were divorced, he asked why we were divorced. A little disconcerting but we laughed it off to inexperience and never answered his question. When we got back to the show room, he asked my ex if the car would only be in his name, again a little concerning because he had seen the prequalified letter that had my name on it, but again chalked it up to inexperience and we stated it would be in my name only. He then goes to run the numbers, presumably with the company I was prequalified with. He comes back with a payment $103 more than what I said I could afford. He asks if they hold the car for me if I could get together another $1000-2000 for a deposit. Absolutely not. What if they take the payment down by $50 then its ONLY $53 more than what I was expecting. I tried to give him a little perspective and told him I understand that for him maybe he just doesn’t go out Friday night to save $53 but for me that’s 50% of my grocery budget to feed my kids. I left disappointed that I didn’t find a car for myself but perfectly happy with the service, even with the odd questions and slightly condescending manner. He was on the young side and everyone needs to learn appropriate small talk, he just needs more experience. I was happy until I checked my email the next day. I got an email that there had been a change to my credit report. I expected that because they ran my credit so an inquiry would be reported. Then I received another and another and another, actually a total of 6 more inquiries. I was shocked to say the least. When I pulled up my credit report it showed 6 other banks that the dealership had run my credit through! Without my permission! I made it very clear that I would be going through with my prequalified loan, showed it to him, repeated myself, said I would live with the higher percentage rate, he held it in his hands! My credit score was changed by 86 points in a half hour. I worked for 18 months to raise my credit score to the level it was at from having no credit. They ruined 18 months of work in 30 minutes. Please let me be clear that the issue is not that I did not walk out without a car! This issue is that they had no permission to run my credit through any other bank besides the one I was preapproved! I call and spoke to Gail and Dan. I have to compliment them on how professional and courteous they were. I then spoke to the sales manager John. Honestly I wish I hadn’t. I felt blown off and his apology was insincere. He told me their job was to get me a car I could afford. Well guess what, with a ruined credit score I cant afford any car. he told me there was clearly a miscommunication. How?? The salesman help my letter in his hands, I repeated myself, I said I would live with the little bit higher percentage. When I told him that I left satisfied with my service and would have recommended them and that now I would never recommend them to anyone and was going to give them bad reviews on line he simply said “uhuh”. I wound up hanging up on him. The whole experience left me feeling disappointed, disrespected and with a ruined credit score. From a one hour trip to a car dealership. More
