She was trying to portray a super friendly image but immediately bristled at the slightest challenge. I was financing not because I needed to, but because I wanted my son to experience it and carry a proper loan from a bank, not dad. She did everything she could to fulfill every prejudice one has against finance people in the auto industry. Meaningless words (I mean, seriously, what was that during the warranty explanations??), hidden fees, no choices, unnecessary hard inquiries against credit history, keeping real numbers secret, and, incredibly enough, trying to get a $2500 overpayment (probably only to reimburse the CC payment that they wanted to secure the deal). Did I mention that I walked out with a bunch of papers but nothing that showed anything about our financing deal? The car was CPO but had a bulging tire, discovered by us, and a non-functioning NAV. Did anyone do an even basic once-over of the car, or did they just pay VW the fee and slap CPO on it? Seems like the second one. I was promised two new Michelin tires, but of course, once we came it was Hankooks. At delivery, the NAV worked, but no attempt was made to update the MIB firmware as requested to pre-empt CarPlay issues. To complete the negative experience, the car had an "R" inspection sticker at delivery! If I did not ask, it would not have been mentioned. An explanation was given, and I can get a regular inspection sticker after 200 miles. There is very little confidence in this, and should there be any issues, I will not hesitate to describe this entire experience to VW during warranty claims. Finally, I should mention that the bank we ended up financing (no choice given) technically breaches my credit protection request. The other two banks called to verify that I was asking for a loan, but the one chosen for us did not. This means that anyone could have faked a loan with them in my name. Wow. Needless to say, Colonial would be a big "nope" next time I need anything. More
