Mary, After reviewing your concerns with everyone on our team, we want to address the remarks you had of your recent experience at our dealership. First and foremost, it is not our practice nor our intent to treat our customers with dominance or disrespect. For that, we sincerely apologize if you felt that you were disrespected in any way. It is not taken lightly that you purchased your vehicles and serviced with us exclusively for 11 years. When it came to your shopping experience, you were interested in multiple vehicles with low mileage for the age of each model you inquired on. When vehicles of that age and low of mileage come through, they are highly sought after and do not take long to sell. Our sales team in no way utilizes a tactic that involves another customer wanting to test drive in order to drive urgency in your purchase. In this instance, another customer was interested in one of the vehicles you showed interest in and ultimately purchased it. At that point, you had not committed to purchasing said vehicle, and it was still available for anyone to come in to test drive and purchase. Ultimately, you purchased a 10 year old CR-V with approximately 35,000 miles on it and no extended warranty. After driving it for a couple of months, you noticed a heating issue in which the vehicle was not producing heat and presented it to our dealership along with a service bulletin for a flush or heater core replacement. Our service manager researched your service bulletin and found that your CR-V did not have a matching VIN for that service bulletin, and therefore did not qualify for the work to be completed under that bulletin per Honda. After investigating the issue, our Service Manager and Pre-Owned Sales Manager agreed to offer you a 50% discount of the work needed to get your vehicle’s heating system back to working order. Since you purchased a used vehicle without an extended warranty, this was a more than generous discount that we are not obligated to offer. Following this, after you put 5,000 miles on your vehicle, you noticed a grinding from the back of your vehicle. While your brakes were marked as ‘Good’ in a previous inspection, underlying factors contributed to your brake pads wearing down early according to another service department. While we understand your frustration over this issue, it is unfortunately a risk that consumers take when purchasing a used vehicle. With reference to your response: allowing a salesman to interrupt a discussion on a potential sale is at best rude & impolite, at worst a method to push a sale. Definitely goes against your "no pressure" policy". And it certainly seemed odd it was the same guy interrupting the 2nd time, out of all the other salesman available that day. Regardless, it would be better to let the other interested party know the vehicle is being looked at and if things fall thru they will be the 1st to know. Do not defend this conduct. I phoned Honda to address my concern with the Service Bulletin (no help from them) and they told me my VIN was not listed as part of the bulletin, which I in turn advised your service manager...he explained nothing to me other than I was on the hook for the repair cost. No explation on the diagnostc test or what, if anything else, could cause the heat issue. A total breakdown of adequate communication and an "oh, well" attitude by several employees. A generous resolution was put on the table by you, that is truth. And I disclosed that in my review. Your multi point inspection sheet was indeed deceptive and who knew of the supposed "underlying factors" that caused the brake pads to wear down early? The rear brakes were most likely never replaced, with 40,000 miles that seems reasonable. Be honest with your multi point inspection sheet and inspection of used vehicles. My situation was a major breach of honesty and trust worthiness. I am well aware of the risks consumers take when purchasing a used vehicle, but I chose your dealership as I believed you set a higher standard and I would be treated with integerity and honesty. I feel you fell short not only in my experience purchasing my used vehicle, but in your response to my review. Mr. Patrick Buren should call me.
