I was also genuinely looking forward to the visit because I planned to discuss trade-in options, as I was seriously considering purchasing a Mazda CX-9. When I arrived, a service representative took my vehicle. I asked how long the process might take, and she explained that because a diagnostic inspection was necessary, it could take some time. I understood that and went inside to wait. Throughout the morning, whenever she passed by, I asked whether there was any update. Each time, I was told that they were working on it. After several hours, I again asked if they could please determine the cause of what was, ultimately, a horn issue. Once again, I was told that they were working on it. What I later discovered was extremely troubling. Only a few minutes after I posted a Google review about the delay, I saw the representative apparently handing over my vehicle key for the first time. In other words, despite repeatedly telling me that the vehicle was being worked on, it appeared that the diagnostic process had not even begun. That is the issue I have repeatedly tried to explain. My complaint is not that automotive service sometimes takes a long time. I fully understand that diagnostics and repairs can be time-consuming. The problem is that I was repeatedly given information that did not appear to be true and was left waiting for hours without an honest explanation. What made the experience even more frustrating was the response afterward. I raised this concern with multiple people, yet I did not feel that anyone took the substance of the complaint seriously. The employee continued behaving as though nothing had happened, and not a single person offered me an apology. Your response to my Google review, suggesting that service appointments can sometimes take longer than expected, therefore completely missed the point. The issue was never simply the amount of time I waited. The issue was how I was treated during that wait and the fact that I was repeatedly told my vehicle was being worked on when, based on what I observed, that did not appear to be the case. For a company with such a long history, I am disappointed that I have been unable to communicate something this straightforward and have it meaningfully addressed. I'm faculty here at Denison University, and I can easily explain why my experience led me to recommend that people consider other options. The most disappointing part is that this situation could have been resolved very easily: an acknowledgment of what happened and a sincere apology. Instead, I continue to receive messages encouraging me to return and purchase a vehicle, while the underlying complaint remains unaddressed. That is deeply disappointing, even after weeks; particularly because I arrived that morning not only as a service customer, but as someone who was seriously considering buying another Mazda from your dealership; and whose time is highly valuable. On top of all of this, I was never informed in advance what the diagnostic service would cost. No estimate was provided, no pricing was explained, and no one asked for my approval before proceeding. The representative took my key, later took my payment, and I left. I have never experienced a service interaction handled this way. There was virtually no transparency about the process, the timing, or the cost, and no meaningful accountability when I raised concerns. For a customer, that is simply unacceptable. More
