Brough my RAV4 in for a follow up service where I was told my rear differential needed to be replaced, due to banging sounds when breaking. I purchased an extended warranty and as I am coming to the end told my rear differential needed to be replaced, due to banging sounds when breaking. I purchased an extended warranty and as I am coming to the end of the authorized mileage, I thought this differential replacement would be covered. Come to find out, on the follow up appt. the mechanic was NOT able to find a problem with the rear diff. (which was a reversal of what I was originally told), so this was either a mis-understanding to begin with or just a simple error on the part of the service focal and mechanic, so unless the problem could be re-created (it couldn't since the sound occurs in hotter conditions), I can't submit a claim to the warranty company. I did provide audio recordings of the issue but this was not enough to go on. This issue is likely part of a service bulletin Toyota sent out and was only covered to 60K miles. Even though I reported this to the dealership prior to the 60K mark, I was told this is not covered now and it would likely be rejected by the warranty company unless the issue can be recreated. So I suspect I will have an issue with this down the road which will end up costing me $5K+ to replace, eventually. I find this disappointing and not what I expect of Toyota products. More

I had a great experience as always at the dealership. I love that they have reliable internet and actual desks so that I can be productive and work while waiting on my car.
