Extraordinary experience! I was not your typical Germain Lexus buyer. I had been searching for months for a vintage VW Camper, and I found one online: a 1984 Volkswagen Vanag I was not your typical Germain Lexus buyer. I had been searching for months for a vintage VW Camper, and I found one online: a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia. When I called, I learned that it was at Germain Lexus of Easton, but it had already been sold. These vehicles disappear as soon as they hit the market, so I wasn’t surprised, but I was very disappointed because it was exactly what I was looking for. A week later, Preston called me to tell me the deal had fallen through and that I was next on the wait list; I was impressed that he had kept my contact information on file. I drove to the dealership two hours later and decided to purchase the vehicle on the spot. This was a pretty special vehicle, and Preston knew its story well. The sole owner had traveled the country in this bus. He kept maps of his trips and hand-written maintenance records. He even included the original window sticker from 1984. The camper is 32 years old, but it looks and runs like it came off the showroom floor. Preston and the folks at Germain Lexus felt genuinely connected to me when they saw how committed I was to continuing the vehicle’s legacy and care. Every step of the process with the staff at Germain Lexus was perfect—sales, financing, title and license. I am planning to frame the map of the previous owner’s first cross-country road trip, and one day, I hope to take the same trip. I parked this gem in the garage for the winter, and in May, I am taking it on the road. I haven’t decided where yet, but I am looking forward to many summers of adventure.
