Paul was by far the best salesperson I have ever dealt with. After searching for one specific car (Veloster in manual transmission) all over the state of Fl, none were available. Even after he knew that he wouldn't be able to get me the car, he was incredibly kind and patient and helpful to me. He help me find and the car out of state. I ended up flying out of state to buy the car as that dealership would not trade for it. I bought the car out of state and ended up having a ton of problems with that out of state dealership. Even though I had just bought a car from another dealership I called Paul Smathers back as he was so helpful to me before to ask him for help again. Paul didn't let me down. He researched for me a bunch of out of state laws on reciprocation and tax law that were causing me problems. He advised me how to handle each issue I had with the other dealership and the new car I bought. We spoke many times about it. As I had just bought a new car, there was no reason why he would have continued to go out of his way to help me other than that he is a good and kind person. This was our first new car purchase, and we were expecting the worst, but it couldn't have been more painless! I couldn't believe that we got such a competitive price for our Hyundai Elantra Touring expecting the worst, but it couldn't have been more painless! I couldn't believe that we got such a competitive price for our Hyundai Elantra Touring without any haggling. We are very busy with our newborn daughter, so we kept putting off the process, but we never even had to leave the house!!! Our car was delivered to us by a very friendly driver who then drove our trade-in back to St. Augustine. They even came after work because that was the best time for us. I emailed several Hyundai dealerships in North and Central Florida for price quotes, but Eddie was by far the most responsive and the most upfront about the process. We emailed several times back and forth over the weekend, and even though I know he was very busy with other customers at the dealership, he always took the time to answer my questions. He even offered to let me call him with any additional questions I had on his personal number after business hours. At one point, while he was helping a customer, another salesperson emailed me to let me know that Eddie was with another customer, so that I understood why his response would be delayed! I was given three models to consider, and an additional two used models to look at as well. Once we found the model we wanted, we had everything arranged over the phone, and the car was delivered on Monday! I'm afraid we've been so spoiled by the experience, we'll have to go back to Hyundai of St. Augustine every time we buy a new car! Darryl and the sales manager were good at trying to work with me to keep within my budget with my trade in. They made me several offers above my limit, but I could not accept. I left it open for them to contact me if something comes up that would work within my budget on a newer used car. Darryl even offered to drive one of the cars by to my home to see if it would work. He lives a mile or so away from my residence. Very professional, not pushy, they try to accommodate what you want. Sorry we could not work out something as I would like to buy a car from them. After speaking with him on the phone I had pretty much made up my mind that he had the car that I wanted since it was the right color and had less miles than another one that I had looked at. Once we arrived at the dealership Paul got right to work informing us of all the options the car had and after the test drive my husband and I were ready to purchase the car. Paul and the Sales Manager were very open to my desire to get the payment into a place that was comfortable for me and they worked their magic! When we got to the business office to do all the signing all the numbers were exactly the same as what Paul showed me! This was a first for me, I have to say! He met us in the parking lot and showed us the SUV and another one like it (at our request). He then took us for a wonderful test ride around Shore Drive. The whole time we were with him, we felt like we were with family. His caring nature, knowledge of the car and of the area were refreshing. He made sure our Santa Fe that we decided on was set for us to take over when we arrived today. Floor mats, keyless entries, and paperwork were all handled. He also made sure we had a full tank of gas before we drove home. David Mayfield was cordial and knowledgeable. He also helped the process to be smooth and painless.
