This was by far the worst and most stressful purchasing experience I have ever had. I found this GMC Yukon online and set an appointment to view it with Denzel. He was prompt and pleasant to work with. Onc experience I have ever had. I found this GMC Yukon online and set an appointment to view it with Denzel. He was prompt and pleasant to work with. Once all the paperwork was agreed upon, then came the nightmare. Working with Ali, he was the absolute worst finance personal I have worked with. Pushing the aftermarket warranty when I expressed, I did not want one. The contract would easily put me over my comfort level for monthly payments, and he stated, its only 34 dollars a month. This is an unacceptable tactic. Since I work in the F&I business, this gives the aftermarket warranty a bad reputation. Once all this was finalized, I come to find out the finance company declined my application and yet I was able to leave with my vehicle. This resulted in a call from Ali days later indicating I need to pay $10,000 to get a loan or end up with a $2,000 a month payment. This created undue stress as neither option was acceptable and I was left with my only other option to return the vehicle and receive my trade back. After a call with AXOS bank, they indicated they would love to give me a loan if the terms were presented correctly. After finally putting my foot down with Ali, he was able to locate a credit union to take the loan, 6 days after I left with my vehicle. That week was the most undue stress I have ever experienced. With this experience, I will never purchase from Jerry Ulm nor will I ever recommend someone to purchase from there. More
Overall, our experience was okay, but there were a few issues worth noting. When we first arrived, Steve quickly passed us off to another salesperson, Cody. Cody did a great job working with us and was issues worth noting. When we first arrived, Steve quickly passed us off to another salesperson, Cody. Cody did a great job working with us and was probably the main reason we ultimately purchased the vehicle. He was professional, helpful, and easy to work with. One concern is the dealership’s pricing structure. The advertised prices appear very low, but they require multiple discounts that many customers likely cannot qualify for. In addition, the dealer fees and registration fees seemed higher than what we have seen at other dealerships. The business manager portion of the process nearly caused us to walk away from the deal for two reasons. First, after we had already agreed to pricing, we discovered the vehicle only came with one key. The business manager was the first person we spoke with after learning this, and his response was essentially that it is a used car and we should deal with it. That response felt dismissive and could have easily cost the dealership the sale. Second, when I sat down with the business manager, I mentioned that in the interest of saving time, I did not intend to purchase any additional products or warranties. At that point he stated that he was required by law to go over extended warranty options and referenced the “Model Act.” This appears to be inaccurate. I believe dealers are required to disclose whether a vehicle is sold “As-Is” or with a dealer warranty through the FTC Buyers Guide and provide written disclosures if a service contract is purchased. There does not appear to be a legal requirement that extended warranty products must be verbally presented to every customer during a vehicle sale. My understanding is that the Model Act and Florida service warranty statutes regulate how service contracts are structured and administered, not that they must be presented to every customer as a legal requirement. I have bought vehicles in the past and have never had this issue. Presenting optional products as something required by law can create confusion for consumers. If presenting these products is corporate policy, it would be more transparent to explain it that way. When I questioned the statement and mentioned I would research it further, the business manager indicated that he might not sell me the car if I pursued the issue and went to the store manager. That interaction was disappointing. Again, Cody did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. Overall, the experience was ok. I hope this feedback helps improve the overall customer experience. More
