Loose gas cap Got in my car after a day of work. Check engine light and a message saying Take to dealership on my dash. Called Maita and the last asked if the light Got in my car after a day of work. Check engine light and a message saying Take to dealership on my dash. Called Maita and the last asked if the light was solid or blinking. It was solid. She said don’t drive it and have it towed immediately. I was already on the road when I called, so when I got home I called a tow truck. Mind you I bought this car brand new and it only has 10,000 miles on it, so I don’t know what could be wrong. Wait 3 hours for a tow truck. Have to Uber around to run errands and go to work the next day. Turns out it was a loose gas cap. I haven’t gotten gas in about 10 days, so it’s odd this message didn’t pop up sooner. The mechanic told me that if the check engine light is solid that means it’s a non emergency. That’s the exact opposite of what the lady on the phone told me. I understood that if the light ever came on again, maybe I should check that gas cap as it may have wiggles loose. I was told a few times that no, I just need to put it on tighter. I asked why it didn’t come on for over a week then. I parked my car for work with no light on, returned 10 hours later and now the lights on. What’s gives. Then I was told that he can charge for this kind of visit but he won’t out of good will. It’s a brand new car, I was told by a maita representative that it was an emergency, either him or the phone last have their facts wrong about the solid check engine light, I went through this inconvenience for nothing on a new car and spent money on Ubers, then felt like I was being told that I’m lucky i’m Not being charged. Whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. More
