I had a broken part on a used car that I purchased from the dealership 4 years ago that became out of warranty during that time. The cost of the part would have cost more than the KKB book value. The service department got the Hyundia Corp. to send an adjuster to make an evaluation for the part, and then offered to pay for the replacement part if I paid for labor. The labor cost was less than the 60,000 mile maintenace. So this was a success for me! The car feels brand new with the part replaced. During the whole process the service department at South Bay Hyundai was polite and communicative, and even provided a loaner car for the time I was without the car. I have always enjoyed the car (ioniq electric), and the service provided will allow me to enjoy it for more years. So a big thank you to Jeremy and the others that helped me at South Bay Hyundai. It has been an extremely disappointing experience. It is a matter of getting a good car but still being taken advantage of. We bought a certified pre-owned used car. We received the representation of all that had been completed. They did not have a second FOB/key, which they indicated had been checked. They assured us they would order one for us. Three months later, we do not have an ETA, and when we do get a response, it is via email (not returning any calls) and to say, "I need to check with my manager" on the status of the order. Meanwhile, we called another Hyundai, who, for $500, would have no problem ordering and delivering the FOB. $500 is no light expense. Given we already paid for it in the price of the used car, it feels like a large dealer just scrimping because we are not a likely repeat customer. Again, you assume that a Hyundai dealership worries about its reputation enough that they can be trusted. In this case, we were wrong. More
