Drove across the metro area to test drive an Outback because it is (was?) at the top of my list, and I need a second car. Frustrating experience and waste of my limited time. I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was so cruddy that here I am putting it in public. I wasn’t permitted to take car on highway test drive unless I purchased a car today and put down money (what?). I was only permitted to drive it on the backroads by dealership for “insurance reasons” unless I bought a car today. Additionally, instead of explaining the various models/options which I asked twice about, I was lectured repeatedly about how most people are buying without test driving because it’s a desirable car and most don’t care about test driving because they already know what a great car it is from friends/family who have one. But I do care— if I didn’t I would’ve just ordered one online. My time is so limited! And I drove an hour to test drive so I can make an informed decision— $40,000 purchase is a big deal to me— perhaps I’m an outlier (or I look like I’m just wanting to test drive for kicks). I’m now set back at another week before I can make it to the other side of town to test drive an Outback. I can only imagine how I might be treated in the service department at this dealership, if this was the way I was treated by the sales dept. The tasteless high pressure technique of repeatedly asking if I was ready to buy today is a turn off— and then tying that to a test drive is beyond frustrating. I will never return to this dealership. I was looking forward to test driving the Outback today to hopefully purchase a new car within the next few days. My time is limited and now I have to start all over on a different day. Apparently they’re not interested in good customer service (or providing appropriate test drives) or making an effort, because they don’t need to do it as “the cars sell themselves without people needing to look at them,” as I was told. That’s not my cup of tea. Don’t waste your time if you must test drive a car before purchase (I wasn’t asking to test drive the one I would’ve purchased, as they didn’t have many models available— that’s fine— I just need to test drive on fully to see how it drives at high way speeds because I tend to do most of my driving on the highway and I haven’t ever had a 4 cylinder car— I needed to eventually compare to a turbo to decide which one I liked. It wasn’t a matter of a questionable driving record— mine is completely clean and my license wasn’t asked for). Super frustrating waste of my day left me with a bad taste for not only this dealership but for Subaru in general (I’m wondering if the in-town dealership will also not care about customer service). Perhaps I’m an outlier with wanting an appropriate test drive (and an explanation about the various models). At least I got to sit in the seat of whatever Outback model they had to test that out (don’t want to buy a car that makes your back hurt), so that’s something. More

I bought my first Crosstrek form Ralph Kurland in December of 2020. On June 24, 2021 my beautiful car was hit and totaled. After calling 911 and a tow truck, I immediately called Ralph Kurland becaus December of 2020. On June 24, 2021 my beautiful car was hit and totaled. After calling 911 and a tow truck, I immediately called Ralph Kurland because I knew he would take care of me and help me get another new Crosstrek. It wasn’t easy with the pandemic and lack of cars, but Ralph came through with flying colors and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t imagine ever going anywhere else for a car or buying one from anyone but Ralph. He is absolutely the best and I appreciate him more than he knows. More
