Thank you for your review. As background, unfortunately Subaru does not provide a warranty (or chemical protectants) that will cover paint damage from things like acid rain, UV radiation, road salt, tree sap, insect guts, bird droppings etc. Unfortunately, neither do the other major manufacturers (Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Dodge, Chevy, Ford, Toyota, etc). As you indicated, we sell an aftermarket warranty for $899 that covers damage to the paint from those items for 7 years (on a new car purchase). The nice thing about that coverage is that it also includes a warranty on the interior that will cover certain kinds of damage including stains from blood, food, urine, and pet messes, etc (the interior protectant is similar to the stain guard that is usually offered for sale when you purchase a sofa). This is all optional coverage of course, which customers can decline if they so choose.
