I had brought my Toyota in back in December because a fuse to my map light and garage door buttons kept burning out. They replaced a map light assembly stating it had a shorten it. One month later the fuse blew again, so I called and made an appointment for my vehicle. I waited about 30 minutes and was told my garage door opener works. I mentioned to them that I was more concerned that my map lights weren’t working again and that the fuse had blown. The service man told me that the lights are working. I went out to see for myself and sure enough they were working. I asked them if they only replaced the fuse. The gentleman went back and asked the technician and sure enough that’s the only repair that they had completed. I tried to explain to them that I knew the fuse was already blown, and I could’ve replaced this myself, but I don’t feel like the fuse should have blown again only one month after it had been “fixed.” The technician had mentioned the fuse likely blew because all of my map lights had been left on. I informed them that I have been pressing all sorts of buttons trying to get my lights to work. And in these models, it’s very hard to tell when the light is on and when it’s off if the fuse is blown. I also don’t feel like leaving your lights on in the modern vehicles would blow a fuse normally. Unfortunately I live 40 minutes away and it’s fairly frustrating to drive this way and take time out of my schedule for a solution that likely is temporary. In the end, the service man and I decided that I would take my vehicle home and if the fuse blows again, I will be back. I very much expected to have a better resolution than this and I certainly assume I will be back again. More
