No stars would be more accurate! This place has got the be the worst place to ever buy a car.
Starting from the very beginning, March 2nd, 2018 we buy our 2009 Volkwagen Touareg. Two days later our check engine light come on. We call Autonation and inform them of the issue and they basically tell us its our problem.
We take the car to Autozone to check the codes only to find out its our catalytic converter. We call again to let them know and again they tell us TOUGH xxxx.
You CAN NOT REGISTER A CAR WITHOUT A PASSING SMOG CHECK, so explain to me why we paid $60 for a SMOG check that we never received?
Finally after calling Channel 13 and filing a complaint with the DMV, Autonation "graciously offers" to fix "our" problem on April 27th, 2018. They tell us it'll cost us $3,000. We tell them they can take that $3,000 and shove it. So they fix it on their tab.
We thought we were free of this wretched place. NOPE. Our check engine light pops up in September and our mechanic explains its the catalytic converter. YES, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THAT WE SPENT NEARLY 2 MONTHS TRYING TO GET FIXED IN 2018. We are completely shocked. We explain to the mechanic our issue with Autonation and he tells us that its ok, this part should be covered under a federal warranty (5 years or 50,000 miles). We did NOT want to come back to this location to have to go through the same xxxxxxxx all over again. Finally we decided we had to, there was essentially no other choice.
So I start by covering my bases, I call the Autonation Volkwagen to make absolutely sure I have to go the the Buick GMC location. The ladies at Volkwagen informed me that yes I would have to venture to this xxxx pit once again due to the fact that they were the ones who did the work in the first place. So I call the Buick GMC location to set up my appointment. Right off the bat, the lady gives me the run around. Says I need to go to the Volkswagen location. After some back and forth, we establish an appointment for January 19th, 2021. I bring the car in at 1:30pm. I meet with David Grodzian, the service advisor, and of course we dive into the xxxxxxxx. He states he doesn't believe they can do the repair because its a Volkswagen. I explain that I bought it at this location and was advised that because they fixed it in 2018, there should be a federal warranty that should cover it. David then acts like I don't know what the xxxx im talking about. He searches his computer for our car history. He tells me the diagnostic will cost me roughly $140, and if it is just an O2 sensor it'll cost me. I leave and wait for any call or update. At 3:38pm I call to check in, the lady tells me David is about to call me. So again I wait. At 4:41pm I call back and again David is busy but he will call me as soon as he is done with the customer he is with. I checked what time they closed and went back to waiting. By 7:00pm, closing time, I still hadn't received a call.
January 20th, 2021, this morning I receive the call. David leaves a voice-mail stating that before he brought the car into the shop, he checked the catalytic converter and saw that it wasn't going to be covered under warranty. He then states that he couldn't call me at all yesterday (January 19th) because he was having some issues.
I find my paperwork from 2018 for the repair in the catalytic converter and on the paperwork it states they used aftermarket parts and that it is covered by Autonation. When we call David back, we ask how it isn't covered if we have paperwork that says it will be covered at ANY AUTONATION LOCATION. David states that he can not find this repair order. When he miraculously find the repair order, he states that we chose aftermarket parts and that they hold no warranty...... Basically that WE made this decision to screw ourselves. OKAY, so tell us why the paperwork states there should be a warranty? David explains that they put this paragraph on every repair order and that its just part of their basic template.
This place has no integrity, they have no follow through and the worst customer service. If you want to be screwed EVERY WHICH WAY, then this is the place for you! Otherwise you will be better off buying a car off Craigslist!!
