Flaky Car. Abysmal Service.
I purchased a new 2026 Audi A6 earlier this year. I like many things about the car, but unfortunately it has experienced a number of intermittent electronic problems. Even more disappointing has been my experience with the Princeton Audi-VW Service Center.
The recurring problem has been a near complete lack of communication and follow-through from Audi Service.
In May, I emailed two people at Audi Princeton about an intermittent adaptive-cruise-control problem. After receiving no response from either person, I followed up nine days later. Only then did I receive a reply.
In June, when scheduling service, I asked about a loaner and was told someone would get back to me. No one did. I called again two days later, ultimately brought the car in, and waited more than an hour for a shuttle home. During that ride, I learned that the service center offered home pickup—something I had already indicated I would happily use.
Following a software update in August intended to address several electronic problems, the car developed a new climate-control problem: the fan ran continuously at high speed even when manually set to its lowest setting. Audi picked up the car on a Tuesday and returned it Thursday. No one told me Tuesday that the car would be kept overnight, nor Wednesday that it would be kept for a second night.
Although Audi apparently corrected the fan problem, I received no meaningful explanation of what caused it or what was done to fix it. I sent the service advisor specific questions about the repair. I also reported that a 256GB SanDisk USB drive was missing from the car after service and that a new overhead-camera display anomaly had appeared following the software update.
On August 31, the advisor replied, “I will look into it, and I will let you know.” I never heard from him again.
I eventually escalated these matters to the general manager. A colleague of his subsequently called, said he would investigate the issues, and told me he would get back to me. A week later, I had heard nothing and again had to initiate the follow-up myself.
Cars can have problems, particularly technologically complex new models. What I find much harder to accept is repeatedly having to pursue a service organization simply to obtain information, promised callbacks, explanations of repairs, and answers to reasonable questions.
My experience with this service department has unfortunately been remarkably consistent: promises to follow up are made, and the promised follow-up essentially never happens. Promises made -- Promises broken.
How can anyone trust an organization that repeatedly fails to honor its word, its commitments?
