OUR FAMILY HAS BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO RALLYE BMW AND HAS PURCHASED 5 CARS FROM HERE OVER THE YEARS AND WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE AFTER THE DESPICABLE INTERACTION MY 80 YO FATHER ENCOUNTERED. Being in the mechanical engineering field, I have a good understanding of how things work on a car. With that said, The car is a 2015 3 series in excellent condition inside and out with 40,000 miles and this part affected should have never failed with such low mileage. A part in the engine failed causing the car to stop working properly. Upon the complete inspection at Rallye, they told him he needed to replace this failed part in the engine along with several unnecessary items to repair his vehicle. Of the 10 or so items they told him he needed, ONLY 2 WERE ACTUALLY NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM and get the car working. An example from the quote he received was that he needed a radiator hose for 511.00 because oil dripped on it (really!?!) and 1100.00 (really!?!) for a rubber gasket for the oil fill housing where he had the slightest leak imaginable. They shamefully quoted him appropriately $15,000 with tax included for all of the repairs they suggested and the cars worth is just over $13,000. To add insult to this awful interaction, since we initially trusted their diagnosis, we considered trading the car in for a new car. That's when their salesman told him they could only offer him $500.00 (five hundred) to trade the car in. Instead of making this transaction easy for a loyal customer, they made this shameful offer to a senior who, as most people, has no idea about the mechanical operation of this car so he trusts what is said. My father who has purchased several cars over the years from Rallye trusted them to be honest and helpful during this urgent time. It will cost Rallye peanuts to repair the car and resell it for well over the 13,000 book value. The trade in value is over $10,300 and the private sale of the car is just over $13,000 according to the Kelly Blue Book KBB.com and with a straight face, they offered him $500.00! FINALLY, we had a local mechanic look the car over and explained to us that the defective part in the engine is all that was needed to fix the car but recommended replacing the oil fill housing gasket, oil change and a tune up, oil change. Upon his inspection, he wiped the oil off of the hose that we were told would be 511.00 to replace and said it was fine and NOT necessary to change. We did change the gasket that had a small leak and it only cost $200.00 and NOT $1100.00. We also had the new mechanic thoroughly inspect the car and go over every item Rallye inspected only to realize that they undoubtedly had given my father an outrageously high quote. The total cost for us to make the main repair including the additional repairs by the new mechanic was $6000.00. NOT POTENTIALLY 15,000. The car has been running perfectly since the new mechanic did the repairs. We will never use Rallye again! Please remove us from your mail, text and email lists. More
