Last Monday, April 18, Jason Whidden, GM, from Ferman New Port Ritchey wouldn’t sell me the van I ordered , March 11, with deposit! I am a 73 old widow. My husband of 50 years used to buy and sell our c Port Ritchey wouldn’t sell me the van I ordered , March 11, with deposit! I am a 73 old widow. My husband of 50 years used to buy and sell our cars. This was my first new vehicle I was buying , totally on my own. My children live in MIchigan. Mid March I got a trade in value on my leased van of 34000. I placed an order for my new van. They could not take my old van in, as I paid off the lease, as they advised, that night. I had to wait for title but of course the new van was not there. In my lease I had 2 months left and under lease I had paid to get any scratches painted. I was told it was fine just as it was. I was told this was fastest way to get title. Later Capital Chrysler told me I should have gotten payoff and done direct move from my bank account as I had paid my monthly bill on line. I even got a phone message left saying I was late on my payment from Chrysler Capital. More phone calls for me. The van ordered March 11 came in record time, about 4 weeks. It came in Friday the 15 in the afternoon and I couldn’t get it til Monday afternoon because they were very busy I was told. On Monday They had me test drive van and went over controls. Their ad said I’d take ownership and go over the vehicle with me in the air conditioned dealerships. I called insurance co and produced the new card, etc. I kept asking about trade in value as I needed it close to the 34,000. I asked if there was any rebate. Salesman came back and said there is one if you finance here for 20000. $1000. Rebate so I filled out paperwork for credit report. I had added less than 300 miles. So they bring out this sheet and ask me to sign here, highlighted spot. No one had still not told me trade in value so I expected $34000. I look at numbers and say whoa, 31,500? They try to tell me there is some new damage to my van. He says we have pictures from before and now. I ask to see pictures. He says I can’t show you them. I’m a 73 old widow! Seriously? I had offers from people to come with me. Why would I need them to waste their time. Now I know. He tells me how much sales tax I’m saving by trading in. He tells me the discount I get because of family that works for Chrysler. I say, I understand how to do math. I also understand those savings to me are not coming out of your dealership. I finally say, I’ll buy it without the trade in. General manager, Jason Whidden, says “I will not sell you the vehicle you put deposit on when You ordered it.” He’ll give me the money back cause he says he can sell it for more than sticker price and he is afraid I’ll do a bad survey to Chrysler. My daughter in Mi , that works for Chrysler, called him and he didn’t change his mind. I next another Chrysler employee friend in MI and Dave called him and said, ‘you have to sell to the person that ordered the van.’ Jason tells me he doesn’t want to deal with me. Go to Fitzgerald in Palm Harbor , 15 miles away. He’ll trade something for the new van and they can deal with you. I drive directly to Fitzgerald, car buyer goes out and looks at my van and offer me 33,000. And says he will remove the dealer 995 that FL allows but they do not have to charge it and Fitzgerald does not charge it. And some upgrades by Ferman Chrysler of N P R like wheel locks that he was charging me $900+ for and a buyer must buy it that way or he won’t order it.. So basically for less money I got my new van and free rental car if I need one and 8 years 85000 miles extended warranty! I still have a thousand Chrysler loyalty rebate but Ferman had already applied for that so it is taking the second dealer more work to get it. I had to drive back to New Port Ritchey and get my registration back. So an additional 45 miles. About 2 hours at rush hour. They have not returned my handicap tag, as of Today , Monday, April 28. This happened last Monday, 3/21/2022. The hang tag had already been moved to the new van. All of my personal things I had moved to new van and they, without saying anything to me, put them back in my old van when Jason Whidden, GM, came in and told me they would not sell me my van. They had no business touching my personal things. The new van was locked so I could not check it. I did have to go back to Ferman and get the title as they had only returned the credit report application. But God was in this and I’m at the better dealership! One that does not lie and tell a customer they have to finance 20 k to get the rebate, that it is a customer loyalty rebate. Or Change the value of your trade in for no reason other then because they can and Jason can be as rude as he wants to me cause I was alone. His salesmen and manager etc were speechless. My Ferman salesman said it was above his pay level to speak while Jason W , GM was there. More
