The service team at Elder was very up front and honest, so I can’t knock them for any of that. Prices for the work seemed a little high (all dealer service prices are high), but that is the only complaint so I can’t knock them for any of that. Prices for the work seemed a little high (all dealer service prices are high), but that is the only complaint I can think of. Communication, quality of work and the process involved was still very good More

Came here to get what I thought would’ve been a repair covered by warranty on a 2019 Ford F-350 (Diesel) with 76,000 miles on it. The truck suffered catastrophic CP4 pump failure. Which is a common issue covered by warranty on a 2019 Ford F-350 (Diesel) with 76,000 miles on it. The truck suffered catastrophic CP4 pump failure. Which is a common issue with these trucks since 2011-2012 that still persists even to this day. This has been a problem with so many trucks that a class action lawsuit was filed back in 2022 (and still ongoing) for Ford continuing to use defective/incapable pumps in their diesel trucks. Nonetheless, I was told that the CP4 pump failed due to poor vehicle maintenance and bad fuel. I was also told that there was rust found in the system (which is Ford’s way of getting out from under the warranty umbrella by saying the pump was exposed to water), but the photos sent to me by the dealer didn’t show any rust - what was visible was how the pump quite literally ate itself up with literally no signs of brown/bronze rust. I find it interesting that Ford could say the pump failed due to poor vehicle maintenance when all you can do as an owner to ensure proper maintenance on an otherwise non-maintenance part (the fuel pump) is change out fuel filters, which was done on my truck religiously. I also find it laughable that Ford could say the pump failed due to poor fuel when the diesel we’ve all been buying has been the same for the past twenty years. Not to mention I always get my fuel from the same place because this is a work vehicle for a small business - that has a Shell Small Business gas card. So it’s not like I’m getting shotty diesel from a sketchy gas station. I’m always going to Shell. So the quality of the fuel has always been a controlled variable in this particular instance. Anyways, with the warranty out of the question, the repair was quoted at just about $15,000 (interesting fact here, that’s literally 25% of what I initially purchased the truck for). Which is when I got yet another tow (more money) straight out of their service department, where I was told that if I had someone outside of Ford work on my truck that the manufacturer’s warranty would be void; which didn’t bother me any because the warranty didn’t warranty anything here anyways. I ended up getting my truck fixed elsewhere 40% cheaper than Ford quoted, and also managed to get a upgraded pump and upgraded parts pertaining to the fuel system all under their aforementioned $15,000 quoted repair price. I said all that to say, let this be a bit of a ‘buyer’s beware’ for those who are relying on there warranty to do warranty things, because Ford will NOT have your back. Needless to say, I will be joining that previously mentioned class action lawsuit amongst thousands of others whom suffered the same rigamarole Ford had to offer. More
