★☆☆☆☆ | My Dream Car Became My Worst Financial Nightmare I never imagined I’d be writing a review like this, but I hope my experience helps someone else avoid making the same mistake I did. Nightmare I never imagined I’d be writing a review like this, but I hope my experience helps someone else avoid making the same mistake I did. When I first visited Davis Acura, I genuinely felt welcomed. The staff was friendly, and the buying experience felt personal. I had always dreamed of owning an Acura, so when I was presented with the opportunity, I was excited. I was also left with the impression that my financing options were limited and that this vehicle was essentially my best chance at getting approved. I trusted that buying an Acura from an Acura dealership meant I was purchasing a quality vehicle that would be dependable for years. I purchased the vehicle “as is” for nearly $30,000 with zero money down. Looking back, I understand what “as is” means, and I take responsibility for signing the contract. However, I never expected a vehicle at this price point to begin having serious problems almost immediately. Within three days of ownership, the vehicle developed electrical issues. I brought it back for repairs, and after multiple visits those issues were addressed. Shortly afterward, I noticed a bumping sensation while driving. I was told it was simply due to tire wear, so I trusted the dealership’s expertise. About a month and a half after purchasing the vehicle, I began hearing a ticking noise from the engine. I immediately brought it to the service department. A technician opened the hood, listened to the engine, and told me the sound was simply a characteristic of the high-pressure fuel pump. The vehicle was never test-driven or diagnosed while I was there. I specifically asked if I should be concerned or replace anything. I was told no—that this was normal. Trusting the professionals who service these vehicles every day, I accepted that answer. Approximately two weeks later, the ticking became dramatically louder. I immediately called the dealership, explained the situation, and scheduled another service appointment. Roughly 30 minutes later—before I even had the chance to bring it back—the engine failed. When I contacted the dealership again, I hoped my previous visits and documented concerns would matter. Instead, I was told that because my vehicle did not have powertrain warranty coverage, the repair was entirely my responsibility. The original repair estimate was approximately $16,000. It was later reduced to around $7,600, and while I appreciate the effort to lower the cost, that doesn’t change the reality that I had owned the vehicle for only about six weeks before suffering catastrophic engine failure. I asked if there was any way to put me into another vehicle. I asked them to exhaust every possible resource available to help me. I was told there were no other options. Throughout this process I was repeatedly sent back and forth between sales and service. Sales told me it was a service issue. Service said they would speak with sales. I spent countless hours making phone calls, searching for someone who could actually help. The one exception was Steve. He treated me with kindness, communicated professionally, and genuinely seemed to do everything he could within his authority. I sincerely appreciate his efforts. Today I’m still responsible for roughly a $900 monthly car payment on a vehicle I barely owned before its engine failed. That vehicle was my transportation, my source of income, and my financial stability. Losing it has put me in the worst financial situation of my life. More

You have increased your service costs much higher than the other dealers in the tristate area. You’ve lost this customer at least for now. My suggestion is to make your prices competitive not higher than the other dealers in the tristate area. You’ve lost this customer at least for now. Davis Acura is the only Acura that I would buy my car. I bought and owned an Acura since 2003. Although friends say that I should shop around but I don’t because I have confidence in Davis Acura sales and I bought and owned an Acura since 2003. Although friends say that I should shop around but I don’t because I have confidence in Davis Acura sales and service. Although I enjoyed working my salesman, Tony, my go to person is Ed Riley.
