"Cleanup on aisle service" Service appointment was scheduled for oil change and front brakes. My appointment was at 2PM. I asked the service writer how long it takes to complete a front brake job. Re scheduled for oil change and front brakes. My appointment was at 2PM. I asked the service writer how long it takes to complete a front brake job. Response 1.5 hours. I was offered a $1000 mileage-based service. I noticed transmission related items on the service list. I asked about a letter I received regarding a potential transmission issue/ extended warranty. I asked for additional information. He didn't have any. I was offered a $200 transmission diagnostic fee. If the problem was found, the fee would be waived. I asked for some symptoms of a transmission problem. He mentioned hesitation, and I believe he used the word shuddering or something similar. I said that there is a delay when accelerating and a feeling of tap tap tap (i guess shuddering) during acceleration - a recent occurrence. response....Crickets.... I declined the $1000 service and the diagnostic fee. I can afford brakes and the oil change. My logic- Subaru sent me a letter about a potential transmission problem- why should I be charged a diagnostic fee? During a test drive with Mark (excellent Sales guy) I received a call from the service writer. They can't finish the brake job today. He offered to drive me home and I can pick up the car tomorrow (friday). no and WHY? he said the mechanic leaves at 3:30. SERIOUSLY? He said I should have made an earlier appointment. I told him that when I called for service - the robot lady asked why I was requesting service. I said oil change and front brakes. I was given the option of 11am or 2PM. I choose 2PM. He said I should have spoken to a human. To be clear, I called the service # and I was connected to the robot, not a human. Recap - 2PM appointment for 2 services. front brakes and oil change. asked and answered - if needed, Brake job takes 1.5 hours Offered $1000 service - declined received no helpful info about the transmission problem letter Offered diagnostic fee of $200 to clear that (whatever 'that' is) up - declined Brakes not fixed I don't wish my complaint to be wasted. Use it to fix the 'process" and call on me if you want assistance. Lynn B More
