I purchased a “Certified” Tundra from them online and dealt with their GM John Carnivele directly to negotiate the purchase. When I asked about the condition of the vehicle, he told me that the vehicle was in excellent condition and that it passed the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle 160 point inspection and that “If it had failed in any way we would have gotten rid of it.” I paid $1500 to Oak Lawn Toyota to cover their cost to ship the vehicle to me. The vehicle arrived a few days later after dark, caked with 1500miles of road muck, and a dead battery. The transportation company was able to jump-start the vehicle and unload it. I got in and immediately noticed the distinct odor of cigarette smoke and what appeared to be a water stain on the headliner above the driver’s door. On the drive home I was a surprised to hear a rattle in the driver’s door. Over the next couple of days and with the help of a body shop partnered with my local Toyota dealer, I identified the following items, any one of which fails the 160-point inspection criteria set forth by Toyota: 1. Body panel alignment and fit --- front bumper cover to fender well misaligned by about 0.5" 2. Body is free of all dents --- large dent in left tail light area 3. Paint is reasonably free of scratches and chips --- front bumper cover, especially left side has chip approximately 1" diameter 4. Vehicle is free of improper paint repairs or mismatched color o Left rear quarter panel – Poorly contoured body filler, wavy finish. o Right front fender – Sander marks in body filler which painted over. o Right front door – Sander marks in body filler which were painted over. o Grill surround color mismatch – Not even close to the same color as adjacent parts. 5. Seats, carpets, floor mats and headliner are free of stains --- Driver door head liner stained with small rips. 6. Free of odor, including heavy perfume - Interior smells like smoke, but cannot document with photo. Additionally there were smaller, more cheaply correctable items as follows: 1. Loosely attached front left bumper cover. 2. Missing hardware on wheel well, fender liner, and mud flap components. 3. Road residue in the wheel wells. 4. Torn mud flap 5. Cracked grill plastic with electrical tape "repair" still in place. 6. Rattle in driver’s door. 7. The vehicle as advertised also included a Tonneau cover, but was delivered without one. I provided pictures of all of the issues with the condition of the vehicle along with the Bill of Lading signed by John Carnivele showing that he acknowledged many of the items listed above BEFORE shipping the vehicle to California. John knew it was a banged up, stained non-certifiable vehicle when he shipped it and sent it anyway! The body shop at the local Toyota dealer provided an estimate totaling $8700 to fix everything properly. I sent the information to John Carnivele and called him to discuss it. He offered $2000 for me to keep the vehicle, but I declined because it was $6700 short of what was required. At that point we began the process of unwinding the purchase. I had to follow up several times a week for about two months before I received the refund for the purchase price of the vehicle. They essentially sat on my $40,000 for two months without so much as an apology or offer to make it right. They have declined to refund the $1500 transport fee they collected because, in the words of John Carnivele, that’s the chance you take when you buy remotely. Wow! John Carnivele and Oak Lawn Toyota have no accountability for gross misrepresentation of a vehicle’s condition and they expect you to carry the cost required to catch them at it. If you buy a used vehicle from Oak Lawn Toyota, do yourself a favor and have the vehicle inspected by a third party. They cannot be trusted to accurately represent the condition of the vehicle. But most importantly Absolutely Do NOT buy online from Oak Lawn Toyota!!! More

Oaw Lawn Toyota Took Advantage of Unemployed Buyer w/Cash My name is Adrienne Bundy. Andrew sold me a 2005 toyota matrix last Friday. I came in unemployed, without a job and $3000 max (The value of the car is My name is Adrienne Bundy. Andrew sold me a 2005 toyota matrix last Friday. I came in unemployed, without a job and $3000 max (The value of the car is $3350 according to KKB) and I told him that upfront. He was selling me a 05 toyota Matrix giving me the impression he was going to sell it to me for my max price because he kept showing me cars that he could work within the $3000 I had. But I ended up paying $3900 (borrowing the extra money in order to get the car) and I was given a verbal agreement that I was being sold a perfectly well maintained car that had all service done there and the car had no problems. Additionally, if I had any problems, I had a 30 day guarantee or 1000 miles warranty to bring the car back in if I found anything wrong and the problem wpuld be repaired, except electrical after buying the car Cash. Andrew stated this to me and John the GM with no addendum. That didnt happen this past Thursday when I came into the store and showed John the car inspection... I had done last Saturday (1day after the purchase), which shows the front struts are ripped and toyota sold me a bad car. Instead of honoring the original agreement and deal on repairs, John Carnivele offered me a 50/50 on the repairs, but that was not the original agreement or the deal. He and Andrew told me 30 days or 1000 miles anything wrong would be repaired except electrical. John said, they told me about the 50/50. When I asked Andrew in front of the store, if he told me that, He said, he did not tell me anything about 50/50 repair. Neither did John. When I asked John if he mentioned 50/50 repair to me, he lied and said yes. Yet, he never mentioned this to me. This is not right and the original agreement and deal should be honored without dispute. John went as far to say. He'll give my money back and my trade in car. But the day of purchasing the car, I asked for a return policy on last Friday, and he said there wasn't one. That means he lied again. I told him, he didnt care about my safety or well being, even after going far beyond my budget and being unemployed. They sold me a unsafe damaged vehicle and found out about it in one day. This means they knowingly sold me a damaged car on purpose. I trusted them to be honest about the condition of the car and the 30 day - 1000 mile warranty if something was wrong. Otherwise, I would have taken the car to a mechanic that day to be reassured of the condition of the car and i would have offered far less knowing I had to put $400-$700 dollars worth of repairs in a car without hsving a job. I dont have the money after spending an additional $900 that wasnt in my budget and I still dont have a job. I wouldn't ever purchase a car and agree to putting more money in after paying more than I could afford the first time. Andrew was honest by saying he never told me about the 50/50 repairs and neither did John. I'm a Christian and I dont lie because God says its sin. I need them to honor the original agreement and would like the option of the return policy still. Lastly, John, the GM, told me that the ripped struts are not a safety issue, but that not true. after watching a professional mechanic who's been in the business 20 plus years on YouTube, he says...its a major safety issue such as: Bad struts are not easy to detect in modern cars, they can lead to worn out tires, and effect the brakes and safe steering. Oaklawn toyota sold me a unsafe car last friday, knowing the struts were damaged. Yet, Andrew and John reassured me nothing was wrong with thr car and I had nothing to worry about because if there was anything wrong outside of electrical, I could bring the car back and they would fix the problem within 30 days or 1000 miles. I was mislead. More

Best car buying experience I've had. Oak Lawn Toyota totally blew it out of the water as far as providing me with a great truck buying experience. I walked in knowing exactly what kind of Oak Lawn Toyota totally blew it out of the water as far as providing me with a great truck buying experience. I walked in knowing exactly what kind of truck I wanted and knew what I was willing to pay. Not once did my salesman try and push me or up sell me to a more expensive model. Once we had the ball rolling in the sales dept we moved onto accessories dept. like undercoating, extended warranty, so on and so forth. They didn't beat me over the head for hours as I've dealt with in the past. The accessories salesman knew what he was doing. Rather than going over every single accessory he narrowed down to the 2 most popular options and if needed he offered to explain all of the other great accessories. He was very friendly and personable. As with sales and acessorries departments the finance dept. did a great job too. Got me the best payment plan he could. Explained everything clearly and made quick work of all the paperwork. Overall Oak Lawn Toyota did a great job. Best dealership experience I've ever had. I would have no problem recommending a family member or close friend to Oak Lawn Toyota. Thanks for getting me into my new truck and keep up the good work! More

Service After the Sale -:( I would really recommend that anyone looking for a new Toyota or a used vehicle choose another dealership in the Chicago or surrounding area. I hate i I would really recommend that anyone looking for a new Toyota or a used vehicle choose another dealership in the Chicago or surrounding area. I hate it when someone has a bad experience and they rant, so let me just say they were great before the sale, answering all my questions and communicating well every step of the purchase. Where they received this fair rating is in service after the sale. Once they received payment and delivered the vehicle, they no longer were the same people. The Manager Sales Manager made a promise to fix a problem and didn't follow-up. return phone calls or respond to emails. When you buy a car, you have choices. Choose another dealer if service after the sale is important to you. More
