She printed out the full Carfax report of the car (also spotless), not to mention one for another CR-V we were considering a few towns over, which apparently had been in an accident that we didn't know about. My boyfriend needed a new car because the engine failed in his 2010 Forester. He found two Foresters that he was interested in at Garavel. He was specifically interested in an XT that they had so after calling to verify that it was still available we made the hour long drive there to look at it. We were walked by Evelyn to the nearby location where the used cars are kept. When inside the office, my boyfriend told her that he was interested in another Forester that they had in addition to the XT. She asked which one he wanted to test drive (as if he could only test drive one). He said that he would like to test drive both if he was going to potentially buy one. One had a turbo engine and the other did not. She said he could have a 10 minute test drive in each. Evelyn was not very friendly and it seemed as if we were inconveniencing her by wanting to test drive two cars. We went out to the XT and it wouldn’t start so she jump started it. She then said she would “restart the time” and wrote something down on her clipboard. She was not part of the test drive due to COVID. We got into the car and my boyfriend took a few minutes to get situated and look at the controls before we left. At some point during our test drive he got a text from Evelyn, which I read out loud to him, that said “just a heads up mike you’re driving with an expired dealer plate.” We were already on our way back to the dealership at that point but had gotten stuck at a red light that didn’t change for two cycles in addition to not being familiar with the area. The whole test drive felt rushed and more focused on getting back to the dealership quickly than on actually test driving the car. When we returned Evelyn told us that we were gone for 20 minutes and was clearly displeased. I’m not sure exactly when the 10 minute time started but she never gave us the exact time that we were to be back or told us that we would be driving with an “expired dealer plate” if we were gone past 10 minutes. It was a bizarre experience. My boyfriend decided not to test drive the other Forester and we left. He was able to find an identical model at another dealer so it worked out for him. The other dealer allowed a more realistic test drive time of 30 minutes. I’m surprised to read these positive reviews about Evelyn because we had a very unpleasant experience with her and did nothing to deserve being treated like that. More
