Recent Forester purchase We recently purchased our 5th Subaru from Garavel. We were interested in a Forester this time; our prior cars had been Outbacks. Promises made, promises kept I had been thinking about trading in my 2015 Outback for a few weeks when a creative marketing piece from Garavel showed up in the mail. It threw me I had been thinking about trading in my 2015 Outback for a few weeks when a creative marketing piece from Garavel showed up in the mail. It threw me an estimated value of my Outback and enticed me to go down to Garavel Suburu to see if it was accurate. My goal was simple: Get a new Outback and lower my monthly car payment. On April 4th, I walked into the dealership with my letter and sat down with Miles Shapiro and Lulu. One hour later, my goal was achieved. In the hour I was there, a couple of guys assessed the value of my car while I took a ride in the 2019 Outback with Miles. The new safety features blew me away! Everything that I had thought was perfect and intuitive on my 2015 Outback became even more perfect on the 2019 Outback. We got back to the dealership and Miles crunched some numbers while I hung out with Lulu. No one really knows this, but Lulu is actually a specialized stress reducing 'Dealership Service Dog." She's highly trained in keeping prospective buyers calm and happy while they wait to learn the final price of the new car, their monthly payment and credit score.....very crucial minutes where things can go wrong if the numbers don't pan out. So while I watched Lulu chew on her stuffed Suburu car toy, I relaxed and waited. Lulu got up and walked behind me, yawned and then laid down. She knew everything was going to be fine. And then the news came in: "Joe, you can have a new 2019 Outback, in the color you wanted, with the features you wanted and your monthly payment is going down by $50. Victory! It all went as planned. I came back at 5pm on the same day to pick up my beautiful, freshly detailed Outback. Miles sat in the car with me before I left to make sure I fully understood all the new amazing safety features. While he explained everything, I realized how incredible the upgrades were....that I would now be safer when I get distracted...that this new Outback could literally save my life if screw up. Miles loaded my iphone onto the cars "iPhone Play" system. For fun, I decided to go to the playlist that featured "one hit wonders from the 70's." By chance, the 1972 song "Me and Mrs. Jones" started to play...one of my favorites. Turns out it was one of Miles' favorites too. So yes, Miles and I sat in the car and belted out the lyrics together to end what will now be remembered as the best car buying experience of my life.
