While at a Daytona Beach Hyundai dealership that will remain nameless, I decided to call Hyundai of St. Augustine to check the competitiveness of the price / payment I had been quoted. I reached Paul Sm remain nameless, I decided to call Hyundai of St. Augustine to check the competitiveness of the price / payment I had been quoted. I reached Paul Smathers and he asked me for some info about my trade and told me he would call back when he had something worked up. Within the next ten minutes, Paul called back and quoted me a monthly payment that was nearly $45 / month less than the number the Daytona guys gave me. Imagine my surprise when the first quoted price / payment from Hyundai of St. Augustine was that much lower than the second and third offer I had received from the Daytona boys. Because I was still sitting in the Daytona dealership, I told them the quote I had received and they told me, "there is no possible way they can get you that payment considering what you owe on your trade. You're going to drive all the way up there and they'll find a reason why you don't qualify for that deal". Well, I decided to pointed my car north because I had a very good vibe from Paul and approx. three hours later (including the drive up), I was leaving Hyundai of St. Augustine with a payment that was actually $49 / month cheaper than the thire offer I had received from Daytona. It was without a doubt the best experience I've had in my twenty years of buying automobiles and would have been flawless if the car I took home had been detailed a little better. Lastly, I thought Paul was the least annoying, least smarmy car salesman I've ever encountered. I initially got a great vibe from him and working with him on the deal was a pleasure. My wife currently drives a Nissan Armada that is absolutely horrendous on gas and if I can talk her into trading it in, we'll be headed to see Paul. Jason Kordek More
