The employees dealt with from the sales rep to the finance, were all top notch and made me comfortable. I was able to be placed in a car with the exact specifications I was looking for, and left the same day with the car for less than expected! Will return for future purchases! More
Will not fix a car under warranty in any reasonable time. DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM JIM COLEMAN! I purchased a used 2006 Toyota Prius from Jim Coleman Honda in late May. I specifically chose the older Priu DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM JIM COLEMAN! I purchased a used 2006 Toyota Prius from Jim Coleman Honda in late May. I specifically chose the older Prius because I am in a very difficult financial situation, and heard that the Prius was a reliable car regardless of age or mileage. Because of my credit, they told me they only way I would be financed is if I paid for the CAREGUARD warranty. Everything was fine for a month or so, before the car stopped working suddenly. It was the "red triangle of death", usually a sign of a faulty hybrid battery. This rendered the car I only had for a month-ish totally inoperable. I had the vehicle towed back to the Honda dealership, and they started repairs. A good two weeks went by as they were waiting for the warranty adjuster to approve the repairs they needed. During this time I was forced to bum rides, share vehicles and frantically switch schedules at work before I was offered a loaner. I was told that because the vehicle was a Toyota, and it was a Honda dealership, they didn't have the reader to properly diagnose(and get approval for) the repairs. They eventually made the decision to send the vehicle to their Toyota dealership, who said that there were no problems to be found, and that the car drove fine. This is after a considerable amount of time with the car not being in my possession(maybe 2 months?). I was told that all I could do was drive the car until the problem resurfaced(xxx?). I went back to the dealer the following day to pick up my Prius. The second I tried to leave, the error magically resurfaced. I was told that it was "so weird because they just drove it off the truck!" They told me that they would allow me to use the loaner vehicle while they sent it back to the Toyota dealership for additional repairs. Another huge amount of time went by(with no one updating me with any sort of reasonable frequency) with me just putting thousands of miles on this loaner car before the service department told me that they had to do a total transmission replacement. They said that the warranty would cover it, and would be done shorty. Sometime around a week and a half ago they told me it was completed, and that the Prius was again ready for pickup. This is after being with them for several MONTHS. I drove to the dealership to get my car and went to a nearby fast food place, and in less than a mile could figure out that something was seriously wrong with the car. It lurched, jolted, and shook violently in idle. I drove it back to the dealership fuming, as I have wasted a huge amount of time at this point. I told the service person I was dealing with named James that at this point I might be interested in swapping for a different vehicle. He told me to speak with the Used Car manager when I could to see about doing that while the service department would take another look at the vehicle. Thanksgiving week went by, and I was incredibly busy so couldn't make it in to talk to the used car manager. I was also expecting another call from the service department, but James never called me back. Instead I get a call from Tim, the Service Lane manager, who tells me that they unfortunately can't fix my car(that is well withing the 24 month/24000 mile extended warranty I was forced to purchase). I was given two options, come in and get another vehicle(all WAY more expensive than mine, or give up the loaner(a precious commodity I was told) and have the Toyota dealership take a look at the car. On top of everything, they aren't sure if they will pay for the tow again because they "already have $1000 in tows on this car". I guess I am supposed to pay them to have the car sit for another 5 months? The bottom line is I purchased an "inspected" vehicle, was forced to buy an expensive warranty to get financed, had it die in less than 2 months after buying it, had it sit for almost 5 months in service, and now they are boxing me into a corner. It is unacceptable to sell someone a car, and then treat them like this. More
