STAY FAR AWAY FROM JOE RIZZA ACURA SERVICE DEPARTMENT ! Before COVID-19, they were somewhat reasonable for a dealership to take your car in for a repair and not feel like you are being taken advantage of ! Before COVID-19, they were somewhat reasonable for a dealership to take your car in for a repair and not feel like you are being taken advantage of. You expect to pay more for service, but still feel like they care about the consumer. My experience taking my car in for B2 and B3 service after COVID-19 turned into the BIGGEST RIP OFF I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED AT ANY AUTO REPAIR SHOP. There was a sound that I was hearing in my brakes that I asked to take a look at, and I got a call from Charlotte saying it was TERRIBLE NEWS. She explained that my back passenger side caliper had seized, and the back brakes would need to completely be replaced. She said the cost would be $1200. I was in the middle of work and gave a long pause letting her know that I was definitely not expecting to pay that much for back brakes to be replaced. In the past, they have charged me under $400 for my back brakes to be changed. I literally hesitated for a minute and then asked her how this adds up, and if there was any room to lower the cost. She said she could lower it by $100, and that the cost was due to the Acura Brand Rotors being $250 a piece. I still was ready to not make this repair, but when I asked if the car was safe to drive, she was not completely truthful and said it wasn't safe to drive, even though the dealership knew that I had just re-done my front brakes with 3rd party parts through Rock Auto. I reluctantly trusted what she said and agreed to the repair, feeling like I didn't have much of a choice. When I picked up the car later that evening and looked at the bill breakdown, the total for rear brake parts was outrageous at $800. Labor cost was over $400. Even with a $100 discount, the back brake job was $1100. You can purchase a complete front brake kit through Rock Auto with better than manufacturer quality parts for $180. A complete back brake kit would be even a little cheaper, since front brakes are more expensive. I gave things a day to settle down, and then called on Friday to voice my concern to Matt. I wondered how Acura branded parts could add up to $800, and again he told me with no hesitation that there was no markup on the parts. I took the liberty to look on the Acura parts website, and the MSRP for the caliper was $235. I was told $250 over the phone by Charlotte, and the bill said $259.83 for each caliper. So again, this was not completely truthful about no markup on the parts. And we know that Joe Rizza Acura is not paying $235 MSRP for each caliper. Maybe their price is $80 for each caliper. Matt took notes on everything that I said, and asked what would make me happy as a consumer. I let him know, and he said he would get back to me. I didn't hear anything back the first few days of the following week, and checked in on Wednesday. I was told that the service manager was on vacation until Monday, and I would hear back from them on Monday with a decision. Monday came around, and I did receive a call back saying there was nothing they could or would do for me now or for a future credit. They said I agreed to pay, and that was the end of it. In the end, I did agree to pay. But I was given half truths and lies by workers at Joe Rizza Acura, and this influenced my decision to make me feel like I didn't have a choice but to accept the outrageous repair price. My call to them on Friday to voice my concern was to give them a chance to do right by the customer, after they were fully aware that I felt completely wronged by them. In the end, Joe Rizza Acura showed that they are a money hungry, desperate automobile dealership that will stop at nothing to try to recover profits lost from COVID-19. Little did they know that I soon may be looking for a new vehicle, and was considering Joe Rizza Acura for a new vehicle until going through this rip off repair of my car. I will definitely NOT BE purchasing a new vehicle at Joe Rizza Acura. I have spent thousands of dollars in maintaining my car there throughout the years, and I can see clearly that they just want to rip off as many consumers as possible after COVID-19. I hope this detailed review helps consumers make much wiser decision about where to go for car repairs, and that the hundreds of dollars that they ripped me off will pale in comparison to lost business from educated consumers who read this review in the future. This review will be going up on every major review site for Joe Rizza Acura. If zero stars was possible, the review would be a zero. Mike F More
