OUR HISTORY
Walt DeBoer founded Lithia Motors in 1946 as a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Following Walt’s death in 1968, Walt’s son Sid along with Dick Heimann, grew the business to include 5 stores and 19 franchises in Southern Oregon. In December 1996, this collection of dealerships was transformed into Lithia Motors, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE stock symbol-LAD). We envisioned a company that would continuously grow, provide great customer service, and opportunities for employees.
TODAY
Lithia is one of America’s largest automotive retailers featuring most domestic and import franchises. Our stores serve urban and rural populations throughout the Western and Midwest United States.
We are focused on providing customers with an honest and simpler buying and service experience. We are giving customers straightforward information so that they can make confident decisions.
We believe that our local communities are our lifeblood. In addition to the employment opportunities we provide in each of our neighborhoods, we also provide contributions to charitable organizations that serve our families, friends, and customers.

Not sure! I took my car to another dealer in CA and was told that I do not have maintenance coverage. The check engine light went on, and 2 very different assessments of the problem. I cannot express enough gratitude for the team at Lithia Hyundai in Reno. I have been traumatized by my last car purchase which cost me 6 months worth of repairs and shop time and has truly been a nightmare Hyundai in Reno. I have been traumatized by my last car purchase which cost me 6 months worth of repairs and shop time and has truly been a nightmare. Not only did they get me into a new (and safe!) car for my family, but they moved the sun and stars in order to buy my current vehicle. They were honest and upfront with every step in the process and truly manifested a completely pivoted view of the car buying process for me. Seeing as we are military and will be moving within the next year and a half, I will have to make a point to buy my next car here, even if it means driving from states away. These people are ethical and kind, which is a dying breed these days. More
