I visited Rallye Acura for a minor technical issue that reasonably could have been handled in 30-60 minutes. I was there, however, for 2 hours and 20 minutes. It might have been longer had I not enlisted the aid of Enza Comito, who intervened to get a service advisor to assist me after a 20 minute wait. She has always been very pleasant to deal with*, as was the advisor on this occasion, Jeorgio LLantino. Their nice disposition, however, doesn’t translate into an efficient service department experience. It was an hour before the task was begun by the technicians. Part of the problem is the fact that they conduct a large number of unauthorized inspections in order to recommend more repairs. This experience was not as bad as the one I had in December, but still it was disappointing. In dealing with the Rallye service department lately, I’ve felt that things were not handled in a professional, customer-considerate fashion. *she and the advisors have offered excuses for slow service, such as, they don’t have enough qualified technicians for the particular repair, around the holidays technicians aren’t working, sick staff members were sent home to prevent the spread of illness, etc. More

There were significant delays in scheduling the car for service and checking the car in on the day of service. The appointment was made 2 months prior because, by their own admission, they don’t have enoug service and checking the car in on the day of service. I waited 40 minutes to speak to the advisor, Mr. Moon, when checking in the car for a process that required only about 8 minutes. (The one good thing about that was that the man who handled giving me the loaner car was highly competent and tried to accommodate me as efficiently as possible.) Mr. Moon assured me that the repair would take at least 6 days and not likely to be completed before the upcoming holiday, citing short staffing as the reason. When I informed him that I would be going out of town in a week and, therefore, unable to return the loaner car until my return. Mr. Moon asked if I would pick my car up and start the process all over again in January. That was completely unacceptable as I had already waited so long to get to this point. Somehow, the car was repaired in under 48 hours. How was this possible when I was told it would be much longer? Why was I given such misleading information? When I picked up the car, it was making a strange noise that it wasn’t making before. (This should have been noticed before releasing it to me.) The car was returned to investigate the noise and I was advised that an extensive, expensive job, unrelated to the original problem, was needed to repair it when it really wasn’t needed. A very competent, honest local mechanic performed the repair for 1/6 the cost that the dealer quoted. It appears that the original problem was repaired properly but overall, the experience was quite stressful. Good service should be provided for all customers but it is worth noting that, as a family, we have owned 7 Acuras in the last 20 years. We are happy with the cars but are becoming increasingly disappointed by the service rendered at the Rallye dealership. More
