I had my 2010 ML350 in for the diesel modification campaign. I brought it in last Monday and it was ready on Wednesday. I picked it up and went on my way. The next morning, the “check engine” light campaign. I brought it in last Monday and it was ready on Wednesday. I picked it up and went on my way. The next morning, the “check engine” light came on. When I called my service advisor he told me that “it wasn’t anything they did because the work they did CLEARED the check engine light”. He told me to bring it in and it was found that during the previous work, some hoses were hooked up incorrectly. That was corrected and I picked it up late on Friday. I was surprised to receive a call on Saturday morning telling me my car was all done and ready to be picked up! When I told the gentlemen I already had my car, he said “oh, I have the paperwork here. Everything is good now.” Next, when I went to open the tail-gate Saturday morning, my lift motor was not working. The tailgate would unlatch, but not raise. I had to manually raise and lower it. This is nothing more than an inconvenience, except that the tailgate would not latch completely unless I really slammed it down with all of my weight behind it. I called my service advisor again on Monday and told him the issue and his only comment was “well, that was nothing we did – we only worked on the engine”; even though they had to do significant work in the rear of the vehicle to replace parts of the system. It was working perfectly in the years I have owned the vehicle. It seems a bit coincidental that it just stopped working while it was in the shop being repaired. My service advisor has told me “he will try to fit me in sometime mid-week” to look at it, even though he has assured me it was nothing the technicians did. We will see if this is the FINAL repair for this campaign. More
