Thanks for getting that information. It appears that your ac compressor and condenser were replaced in 2021. This would explain why there was no problem with either on this visit. The warranty extension will still apply to the vehicle if there is a leaking front shaft seal, but when replaced a factory reman compressor would have been used in this situation and would have already had new seals installed. The inspection or diagnosis of your concern starts at $500.00. This covers the points of inspection required by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. These points are listed on the invoice referenced in your response. The process when performed correctly takes about 2-2.5 hours to complete. The refrigerant is approximately $100 a lb. I try to keep this diagnosis as transparent as possible. There is no way to properly determine a HVAC leak without performing an evac and vacuum test. If the refrigerant was low and seems to hold vacuum, dye is added to the system to illuminate pin hole size leaks during the system recharge phase of the diagnosis. Most dealers will start the estimate at a basic electrical and visual inspection then add or (up sell) the evac and recharge portion. I would rather start at the entire process to get the needed answer to the customer as soon as possible. This also keeps the job moving along more efficiently for the advisor and technician. In the event it is electrical, the inspection can be reduced to a lesser charge to match the work performed. Your inspection was completed by our Shop Foreman and most qualified Service Technician. There is no inspection and or removal of clutch parts during this process. Worst case the under shield and plastic top cover of the engine may be removed for visual inspection of HVAC components. Has the clutch been replaced in the past? I do not see this in the vehicle history here at this dealership. I do have some good news; it appears that you paid for the AC compressor replacement in 2021. Now that this has become a warranty extension, you can contact Honda Motors and they will give you a particular department to send a copy of your invoice for possible reimbursement. Since we are an authorized dealer and not Honda Motors, I cannot speak for them, but I believe they will cover in full in most cases. I have sent you an email containing that invoice to you along with the contact information for Honda. In theory, the $1900.00 spent then will cover a large portion of the evaporator replacement. Kind of a silly way to have to go about it, but I can't submit a warranty claim on a repair performed 2 years ago, otherwise we would reimburse you ourselves. I hope this clears up the misunderstanding with the AC concern. Let me know If we can help with the clutch concern. Hello Zach, The invoice # on the AC compressor seal extended warranty diagnosis was 711441 on 7/10/23. Again, my AC was not working, and I thought it might be under the extended AC compressor seal warranty, so I brought in my car to see if that would be the problem, but did not expect a $250 charge for a warranty diagnosis. The AC evaporator repair charge would have been $2300, which I cannot afford now. I would think the diagnosis could be performed with dye. Initially, it was a $500 charge, but Lucia helped to bring the charge down to $250. Then yesterday 7/24/23 I was surprised that my manual transmission clutch suddenly gave out on a dangerous traffic area. I had the car towed home, and when I looked at the clutch hydraulic slave cylinder, it was unattached to the engine housing. One nut was intact but detached and the other nut was sheared off. And clearly without the slave cylinder attached, the clutch would not function. How could one nut be completely detached, unless it was removed and not reinstalled during the diagnosis process. I have not had any other service performed except at Manly Honda in the past couple years, except for routine oil changes. I will say that Lucia was very polite and as helpful as she could be.
