Went to gorman mccracken mazda around the 1st of the year - Johnpaul08star
Went to gorman mccracken mazda around the 1st of the year to look at a 2021 GMC Terrain with 33000 miles that was advertised on carfax.com for the price of $23986. We drove the terrain and liked it so we went in and sat down with the salesman and within seconds of sitting down i was told he needed my ss number drivers license and other information. Well, first of all, you dont need or get any of my information until we agree on a price. After telling him this, i asked about price. Obviously not knowing the terrain was advertised on carfax.com for $23986, we were told that vehicle was $26886. I informed him of the advertised price and asked why the $2900 discrepiency. He left and came back with the reason for the discrepiency. He said there had been $2900 worth of ADDENDUMS added to the car....ceramic coating, window tinting (although that model terrain came from the manufacturer with the tinting made INSIDE the glass window), lifetime key replacement and 5 year battery guarantee. I asked why they didnt advertise all those ADDENDUMS they added to the vehicle in relation with the price? All God as my witness, his response was "well, they've been moving stuff around and probably just forgot to add it to the advertised price"....of course that made no sense and was an obvious irrelevant statement made to try to hide their obvious deception. I told him that was a deal breaker and stood to leave. He asked if he could have a few more minutes of our time while he went and talked to the sales manager. He comes back with the exciting news that they could wave those ADDENDUMS. We settled on $23986 (the advertised price) plus TT&L. I give my information and 30 minutes later, the salesman comes and shakes my hand and tells me congratulations, i had been approved! We move on to the next phase of the deceptive car deal---the financing. The papers were all printed up and ready for my signature. The finance manager very briefly mentioned the Extended warranty that 'came with the deal' because HE LOWERED THE INTEREST rate to help cover the cost of the extended warranty! Immediately I asked the finance manager if they were doing the in-house financing on my car deal? He said no they weren't. I then asked how he lowered the interest rate on my deal when another financial institution approved the loan and set the interest rate? Dead silence. I told him he couldnt lower the rate on another loan company UNLESS he had put the 2% buy rate on top of the rate of the other lending company. (Which is the maximum allowable by law and is exactly what he had done. He said he got me financed at a 10.7% interest rate. I am a 742 credit score and he was able to get me a 10.7% interest rate with a $500 a month payment for 72 months ( i put $1500 down payment). As i stood to walk out, i was asked what kind of payment is wanted. The answer i gave was "if the price is right and the interest rate is right, then the monthly payment will take care of itself". I told him i wanted that $2500 extended warranty that he attempted to slide into the deal taken out and also the GAP insurance that i knew nothing about and the lifetime key replacement that was slid in there. Not saying much, the tension in the air between the finance manager and myself was apparent. He wasnt happy that all his extras and points added to the interest rate had to be removed or the deal was lost and i wasnt happy in the least that for the past hour and a half i had been dealing with deception after deception after out and out lies being told to me. In the end, the 10.7% interest rate got lowered to 8.7% interst and the deal was done. The other reviews on this site about gorman mccracken mazda are mostly spot on, i would assume. They are deceptive at every turn and if you choose not to listen to most of the reviews about that dealership and decide to give them a try, a word of warning, proceed with caution when dealing with them because if you dont, you will soon regret it.
