• I dropped of my wife’s car (early) at 7:00 AM for her 1:00 PM appointment.
• At 5:15 PM I called my wife to see if she had an update. She said she called, no one answered, left a voice mail and nobody called back for the past hour or so.
• I called and also did not get an answer and hung up rather than leave a voice mail since my wife already had.
• Since I was already driving I went to SMF and asked the status. The service writer called it up and had a full screen of information with an estimate. I asked him why he didn’t call, or answer the phone, or return the voice mail. I didn’t get an audible response.
• I asked to speak to the manager who was sitting nearby ignoring the whole thing. I reiterated, no call, no answer, no returned voice mail. I received a very similar nothing-burger response.
• It turned out it was a big bill for a minor interior item that isn’t worth doing on a 10 year old car. But that’s not the point, if it was something vitally important that had to be done I would have taken somewhere else after SMF’s complete customer service failure and complete lack of ownership of the situation.
• My only conclusion is SMF is bad at customer service and doesn’t seem to care.
