I had a very poor experience at Clinton Honda. I had told my salesman, that I wanted to have all the number ironed out before I showed up to the dealership to purchase the car. This, in itself, I had told my salesman, that I wanted to have all the number ironed out before I showed up to the dealership to purchase the car. This, in itself, posed a problem and unnecessary back and forth. I wanted to be as respectful of their time and I wish the same was reciprocated back to me. I was also told there was no wiggle room on the price due to the 1.9% financing that would be available to me. Great, until I was told that the rate was not being offered on Accords. Then I suspected I would be somewhere around 5-6% interest, which is the going rate at most places and banks. I asked my salesperson to tell me what the rate was but he said the finance guy was working on checking with all banks and he would get me that number. In the meantime, I could start the work on getting my insurance sorted out, which took about an hour. Yet, another thing I could have sorted out at home before coming into the dealership. By the time I get to the Finance person, I learn my rate is actually going to be 8%, and this with credit score of 830. On what planet is this even logical. So I could have started searching for alternative loan options, yet another thing I could have done from home knowing what the rate would have been and not accepting it or deciding to go with another car. I don’t keep money in my checking account and it would take about three days to swap it over so I couldn’t pay cash on the spot. So I say let’s hold off and you can hold the car and I’ll come back in a couple of days with a certified bank check. That would be possible but we’d have to undo everything including calling back Allstate to change the insurance again and start the plates process again. I wasn’t about to do that. So I say, let me pay by credit card. Also not an option. So here I am, unbelievably livid and forced into signing paperwork I would never have done if I knew everything going in, which I think their salesperson knew very well to start, which is why I went through the mess I went through. Not only will I never buy a car from your dealership or related dealerships ever again, and I do need to replace my wife's Honda Odyssey, I’m telling everyone in my network and across social media platforms about my horrible experience and avoid this place like the plague. They use very deceptive practices and string you along withholding critical information until you've reached the point of no return. Oh and did I forget, the icing on the cake, when I get home and I’m trying to figure out how to connect to the apply carplay, I figure, let me refer to my trusty owner's manual in the glove box. Much to my surprise, there wasn’t one. I really despise having my time wasted and I especially hate oversights into the simplest of details. I traded in my Porsche I can guarantee you I was treated with the utmost respect and consideration when I purchased that car. It was an easy and seamless process, in fact, I was allowed to leave with the car while I was waiting for my insurance money from my previous car to clear into my bank account, simply because they valued my business and wanted to make sure I was happy. This should be a lesson for everyone at this dealership. More
