OUR HISTORY
Walt DeBoer founded Lithia Motors in 1946 as a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Following Walt’s death in 1968, Walt’s son Sid along with Dick Heimann, grew the business to include 5 stores and 19 franchises in Southern Oregon. In December 1996, this collection of dealerships was transformed into Lithia Motors, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE stock symbol-LAD). We envisioned a company that would continuously grow, provide great customer service, and opportunities for employees.
TODAY
Lithia is one of America’s largest automotive retailers featuring most domestic and import franchises. Our stores serve urban and rural populations throughout the Western and Midwest United States.
We are focused on providing customers with an honest and simpler buying and service experience. We are giving customers straightforward information so that they can make confident decisions.
We believe that our local communities are our lifeblood. In addition to the employment opportunities we provide in each of our neighborhoods, we also provide contributions to charitable organizations that serve our families, friends, and customers.

I love the service from Don Ostrom. He is the reason I take my vehicle to Lithia Hyundai of Reno. He is patient and straight forward. I have witnessed him working hard to get my car on a rack as soon as possible. Don O. provides detailed answers to all of my questions. Kept us in the dark regarding the car we were buying, the price of the car, how much our trades were worth, what the financing % was and who it was through until we finally couldn’t ignore it further and pit price of the car, how much our trades were worth, what the financing % was and who it was through until we finally couldn’t ignore it further and pitched a fit but the answers still weren’t satisfactory. We asked at the time for an owner’s manual - 6 weeks ago and still haven’t received! Now the people were really friendly and said all the right things but, come on… we do like the car and is running well, but we felt like we were in the dark. More
