No pressure. Great dealership. - MurphyDDS
I hate shopping for cars. I do most of my homework online before I ever set foot in a dealership. When I had my list of cars I wanted to look at, I set out to several stores to look at and drive each one of them. After two visits to other dealerships (one of which I will NEVER return to ) I went to Kim Hansens. The salesman I met at Kim Hansens (Nathan) was by far the friendliest and least pushy of all of them. I get that a guy has to make a sale in order to get paid, but I think that sale has to be earned through trust. When I told the guys at Kim Hansens that I needed to think about it overnight, they understood and didn't try those tacky lines you see all the time on TV that slimy salesman use to get you to "buy today." Two days later, I was signing papers and drove away with my new car. I highly recommend you give these guys a chance.
Great service, great people - Happy traveler

It was a good experience. - Derry

Great Experience - CA kid
I live in California and bought a car from this dealership. We arranged everything by phone/text and it was a painless process. I came to Idaho and picked up the car and it was an easy process. Plus they beat the prices on the same car in California by $15,000.

Big Mistake - Sarge 1
As an equine rescue based in southern Utah, our ongoing duties prohibited us from making the journey to north Idaho to inspect the 2009 Ram Cummins we wished to purchase from Dave Smith Motors. As a condition of purchase, we were assured through phone and internet conversations that an intricate inspection would be conducted by their "crack" inspection team, and corrections would be made to anything found prior to shipment/delivery of the vehicle. Sadly, we proceeded with the purchase, and within 24 hrs of receipt of the vehicle we discovered multiple mechanical discrepancies. It was clear that either no inspection took place, or the dealership felt no compulsion to correct any of the easily discoverable issues, which included significant oil leaks among the myriad of irregularities. As a result, we were forced to have the vehicle inspected by our mechanic, forced to correct the multiple discrepancies ourselves, and forced to pay 50% of the approximately $5,000 in repairs for our troubles. The actions, or more correctly inactions, of Dave Smith Motors suggests to me that their loyalty is to $$$, buyer be damned. Fact is, the truck is at the shop as of this writing for a whole new set of electrical issues. Purchase at your own risk!!!
Phones must be broken - cannonb2008
I bought a 2013 Yukon Denali from Carl back in March. When I initially took the car for a test drive, I noticed there was a message on the dash saying that a rear tire was low. Before purchasing the vehicle, I asked Carl to have the tire/wheel checked out to make sure there was no problem with it and told him that was not something I wanted to replace after driving it off the lot. He took it into the shop and came back moments later saying that it just "needed a little air" and everything was fine. I went ahead and purchased the vehicle along with a full warranty to the tune of $3000 (that was just the warranty). After a month or so things went south, the stitching on the leather arm rests started popping off, the drivers door handle completley popped off, the third row seat needed to be fixed so it would pop up, and the icing on the cake was the wheels. Each tire would slowly lose air, I took it into Schwabs and it took them one look to realize that the wheels were in fact deteriorating and it needed 4 new wheels, funny how they couldn't figure that one out at Knudsen even when I SPECIFICALLY asked. Next my check engine light came on, that was the final straw for me so I called Knudsen and set up an appointment and also left a message with Carl explaining how unhappy I was. I felt like this car was super glued together to get it sold. Carl never called me back. I took my car in at 9:30am and when I heard nothing, I called at 3:30pm to ask if they had gotten the car in to check it out. The shop guy told me they hadn't gotten it in but would go check and call me back within the hour. He called me back about 4/4:15 and to my relief it was the gas cap that had set off the sensor for the check engine light, it wasn't screwed in all the way, GOOD NEWS??? When I got there to pick my vehicle they handed me a bill for $110!!! I was confused until the guy I was dealing with explained to me that he had to pay his technician to diagnose my car, my confusion turned to complete disbelief and anger..... Did you know you can go to AutoZone and they will plug your car in and diagnose it for free? But not at the dealership where you spend over $30k, oh and the warranty didn't cover that either. They didn't even have it for an hour!!!!! I called back the next day and asked to be transferred to a manager, I spoke with a different gentleman and he apologized and told me that at Knudsen they really do care about their customers and he seemed as stumped as I was about the $110 charge. I was told he would do some "homework" and get back to me that evening or the next morning.... NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK, so here I am writing the first and only online review I have ever written. I too own a business and NEVER have I treated a customer this way. I would have more respect for these people if they called me back and told me to kick rocks, but how cowardly that I can't even get a phone call. I've bought cars here before and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I will never be back and I will tell everyone I know to never buy a car from this dealership.
2018 Ram 3500 - ay
Brad was great to deal with. Straight forward, honest and helpful. Rusty was knowledgeable patient and helpful. I will recommend Autoranch to others. A great buying experience and worth the drive.
Don't care to answer questions asked - Haunting_dw
My initial inquiry was answered so dismissively and so half-hearted that I am certain that you don't care enough for my needs to be worth dealing with. Rather than finding an answer you threw up your hands and recommend I search your website for a different vehicle than the one I wanted to know about. It is only a few hours after a supervisor contacted me and heard my dissatisfaction that you got me any answer at all. We will never make an amiable deal that way. I have no desire to do business with someone who prefers dismissive excuses to actual answers.
Bottom line, somebody at your organization listed it for sale. No pictures no price. I inquired, you didn't care. If only a device existed that people carried with them capable of taking pictures and emailing them. Perhaps in the future scientists will develop such a device . If only you had prices for the things you want to sell rather than putting potential customers on the back-burner for days on end or indefinitely and steering them to vehicles they weren't interested in in the first place. If only you cared without a supervisor's intervention.
You have had plenty of time and chances to convince me to come in and give you my business. In the end you've merely convinced me that you don't want my business and you don't deserve anyone's.
Customer service matters, a drive to go the extra mile, particularly when you're price is not outstandingly low. In that regard you have failed tremendously.
Excellent, unmatched customer service! - Devo
Darin and Lydia were very nice, and the small perks help! I would recommend this dealership to my friends and family. I liked how they gave me water and washed my car.
No guarantee on work no customer service - Frustrated
I had a mechanical problem with my RV while passing through Salmon, Idaho. The Repairs they conducted on my RV failed after less than 500 miles. When I tried to get issue resolved they said there was no guarantee and nothing could be done. What? Engine they worked on is a Ford engine; they are a Ford dealer! They have now refused to return my calls leaving me stranded as the result of their incompetent repair job. I don't know what's more frustrating; lack of competent repair or complete lack of customer service! Giving them 1 star is overrating them. If I had an option I would give them a zero! A zero rating for zero service.
